Do we trade Adams?

Post#1 » by ThunderBolt » Sun Jul 7, 2019 2:53 pm

Personally I’m in favor of keeping him for the time being. He’s young enough to fit with a rebuilding team for a while. It sounds as if we have already explored the market for him and there wasn’t much there. Let’s see what he looks like when he’s included for four quarters a game. He might average 15 rebounds a game next year. Plus, having a guy like him for shai’s development is huge.

depends on what the return is for westbrook and what happens with other moves. i assume getting under the tax will be a priority.

I think you keep him, not much out there to get from him and he will help a ton culture wise and basically the young Guards

Depends on rather we can cut below the tax. I'd like to keep him in a rebuild, but you can't ask ownership to pay 200 million for a lottery team.
“If you're getting stops and you're making threes and the other team's not scoring, that's when you're going to see a huge point difference there,” coach Billy Donovan said.

Depends on how much salary they shed in a Russ trade. Ideally, they keep Adams for the emo fans and his next contract is $5-8M/yr like most centers of his skill are getting these days.

They can easily get under the tax now. I'm for keeping him as a veteran presence, because he conducts himself like a 10 year vet, but he's only 25 so he could help in the future too.

If they get Bam in the Russ deal they will move Adams, although the return will probably be minimal. Bam and Noel can eat up the center minutes and they will want Bam out there developing.

I don't think we get Bam. Miami fans seem to think he's the most untouchable. I'm ok keeping adams for a year. We've got to pay someone. Lets see what his numbers look like when he's not chasing Russ defender around or blocking out so he can get the rebound.

If we get under the luxury there shouldn't be any rush to trade him unless we are offered value in return. He is a good culture piece and it's important to have some vets around when rebuilding. We can re-sign him to a much more team friendly deal when his contract is up anyway.

Not sure whether they do or not but they should probably keep him for now. He's the exact kind of young vet you want on a rebuilding team and his deal isn't killing you if you can get under the tax elsewhere.
