sam_I_am wrote:I said on game thread after watching him for a minute that he is too good for summer league. He looks more mature out there than Brown, Smart, KO or Rozier did as second years. That out of bounds save pass between legs leading to a dunk was the highlight of the game. I really love this guy....but he has no length whatsoever. Can he succeed at the next level at a high level like Draymond or will his lack of length minimize his impact like a Gomes (who was SL MVP)? Can he be an effective rebounder at next level? Shaun Marion was an elite PF at 6-7 so I’m not writing him off. At a minimum he is going to be a dangerous corner 3 guy.

He's the same size and wingspan as Jae Crowder (probably a bit taller). I'm not as concerned with his length.

His size limits his potential. But he should be starting over Yabu. Impressive offensive arsenal and court awareness. Plays solid d and rebounds fairly well using his body. Should be able to contribute this year.

This guy knows how to play. He will get a lot of minutes this season.

Smart kid. Watch him play defense and call out switches, ICE, etc. Horford would've loved him. Maybe Grant can teach Kanter and the other bigs a thing or two about NBA-level defense lol.

I think they're only starting Yabu to give him one last shot. He didn't utilize those minutes too well, either. He is just not coordinated enough to be a consitent role player. I saw him accidentally bump into a teammate going back to the bench. He was walking straight into him and gave him a shoulder. It was like he didn't even see him. The smaller guard (not sure who it was) kind of looked at him funny and Yabs just kept walking. Sadly, he's just not cut out for this league.

His combine height/weight are the same as Draymond Green. Greens reach is slightly better. Ultimately his ability will be what determines if he can play, not his size which seems to be the new standard for a PF.

There’s no reason Grant can’t be a Draymond-esque starter in this league.

Kids got the tools. Wouldn’t shock me if he’s a starter by playoff time.

I’m calling BS. He has two skills DAs frontcourt picks have lacked:

1) he knows how to play basketball
2) He wants to play

All around skill, smart, tough, Everything everyone else said. I don’t think he will be a star or anything, but can be a productive pro.

I have noticed a trend lately with late first and second round picks. GMs are looking towards productive players/winners who can step into the league and contribute instead of being obsessed with “upside” that never materializes. He was VERY productive in college. And he is still only 20 with 3 years of college development ( 2 time SEC POY) This could a very nice late pick.

Corlis Williamson, James Posey, or Jae Crowder are more likely than Draymon Green as comparisons for Grant Williams. I think Grant is going to be okay in the NBA, not great, but a rotation player. He is going to need a consistent 3 point shot, though. I don't really see a problem with him developing that, maybe by this season.

I'd call him a big three, not a power forward. A "wing" that can drop into the post (low and high) and score, move outside and hit the 3 pt shot, cover most wings and smaller bigs for short periods, pass and rebound at a plus rate. In today's NBA that is a valuable commodity.

“Power Wing” If Brad likes a ball handler, 3 wings and a big, that’s a good player to have.

And his intelligence, strength, defensive instincts, improved shooting range, a strong work ethic, his scoring ability inside and out sends his potential through the roof.

He has a good chance at being better than the 3 guys you mentioned. There is something about this kid that shouts special. I can say the same about Carsen Edwards too.

He needs to be starting next game next to Timelord. Yabu can catch a plane to China right now as far as I’m concerned

The likelihood that they come off the bench together is fairly high. Get the chemistry-building process started and see how they work together. If G-Will is a particularly communicative player, it might help R-Will out.

TZ was a great rim runner, but he had a nice lane agility score too and I always thought he was meh as a PNR hedger.

What I remember most about TZ was nobody was afraid to take the ball in against him... and they usually made the basket.

Zeller had that long ass neck. He had to stand on a chair to take off his hat.

Draymond can lock down centers like Capella. I just don’t see Grant having that potential. Green’s length makes him special. Grant is unique....just not the “next” Draymond. I think Rodney Rogers with Dray’s BBIQ is a good comp.
"I think the criticism's stupid," Stevens said. "So I don't care. I'm with Jaylen (Brown) on that. Those two had achieved more than most 25 and 26 year olds ever had. I'd rather be in the mix and have my guts ripped out than suck."
