Now, maybe, just maybe, they are trying to work out a sign and trade, but if that was the case Oubre's agent would be calling all the front offices looking for suitors and Woj would be tweeting about it.
The only real explanation is that Oubre assumes it cannot hurt to wait and see if he can get a better deal.
Ya they can't just let him walk he's too valuable for us to just forget about. There's not too many teams with money left tho so not sure what/who KO is waiting for.
If Oubre gets the Kleber contact that is 35/3.
If he takes the QO - he gets 4.6
so for his next contract - would have to get a 15m per year deal. Possible I guess to beat the 3/35 range type contract
seems the smart play is if the Suns are offering in the 3-36-40 range - to take that deal. maybe not go 4 years but 3 years and really hit again the next contract.
The more I think about it, the more I think that Oubre gets "just" $10M per year.
Look, Marcus Morris (hate for the past away) is an slightly better overall player and he just got $20M / 2 years.
It looks fair value for Oubre to get $40M / 4 years because he is younger than Morris. But more than that probably is an overpaid.
We will see.
