I had posted that hope when I guessed the delay was in the Clippers' favor, but as much as it did turn out that Kawhi's heart was with the Clippers, he also decided he just couldn't go through what he just went through with the Raptors, carrying that team single-handedly.
He was exhausted, physically, mentally, spiritually. Just couldn't face it again. That's why he wasn't playing the Lakers--despite his misgivings, he was gonna go there if the Clips couldn't pull it off.

--Toronto is a known quantity and still a contender. But it's a foreign land.
--The Lakers are in LA, and joining them makes them the automatic favorite. But it's LeBron's team.
--The Clippers are still a star short of being a top contender. But the org is fantastic, it's in LA, there are GREAT guys like Pat and Lou, and Kawhi can be Kawhi here.
