Could anyone clarify whether we could re-sign him this summer for that 25/4? Or it was only possible last offseason? As far as I remember Thibs did not offer anything last offseason, does it mean that we could not resign after that deadline?
We definitely could have agreed to an extension this offseason. It sounds like Rosas didn’t have a lot of negotiation though, although that info is from a biased source, Tyus’ agent.
My guess is either he was hoping to get him back on an even more team friendly deal, maybe less money, maybe shorter or with a team option. The other option is he doesn’t want to tie up money in a backup PG.
I lean towards us not matching but we certainly might. Trying to use restricted free agency to get a player to sign an ultra team friendly contract doesn’t mean mgmt doesn’t like a player. Rosas and the Rockets essentially did this with Capela last offseason.
