They are taking calls. He also states this is a hard time to make this trade because of the timing. If this occurred last week he would be in a much better spot.
I still think the Thunder have to let the Knicks bid on Russell.

Are you going to bench Russ until the knicks can make a trade? What happens if Russ tears his all or Achilles? A potential 3-5 year rebuild could become a decade.

Only thing I'd want from the Knicks is picks. Keep all your "prospects."

To be 100% honest who cares about that line up? LOL
But, the answers is Adams. He is a smart NBA player. He took the torch from Nick. I think he ends up signing a new contract here with the Thunder. He will be the rock to take this team from the crap hole we are going to and out of it.

Has anyone seen anything on when the double draft will be? 2022?

the timing of this jerami grant trade is suggestive to me. i don't think they would have done it if there were a bunch of teams bidding on westbrook and the market was strong. it says to me that we're preparing for an underwhelming return.

Frank Ntilikina is an interesting guy but he doesn't shoot the 3 that well.
Kevin Knox is an interesting candidate and so is Mitchell Robinson.
But, yes Knicks Draft picks are IDEAL. Same with Pick Swaps, Give me all of the pick swaps with the Knicks.

Couldn’t it just be the fact that Miami or other trade partner doesn’t have cap space or a way to save okc money?

Today was the last day the Nuggets could use that exception. They have another one expiring next week for $13 million.
I think this could mean that we would be willing to hold onto Westbrook into the season. Because now the tax bill has been drastically reduced. I sure Sam could talk ownership into paying the tax this year (If he had to) since they will dip under next years for sure.

the only reason there's urgency to save tax imo is if we need the cushion for a westbrook trade to be viable financially.

Re: Thunder Offseason Thread
Would Dragic and Herro (+removal of pick protection) to OKC, Olynyk and DJJ to Dallas, Russ to Miami really be that disappointing? That would need to be adjusted just a little as MIA would take back ~$1 mil too much in salary, but for all intents and purposes that's the trade structure. We'd be getting a late lotto pick from the past draft, could probably flip Dragic for something by the deadline, and set ourselves up to take on contracts for draft picks going forward. I'd consider that a win. Especially if that's where Russ wants to go.

If the Westbrook deal is underwhelming then maybe they should hold off on doing it. Westbrook is not a guy that MUST go right now. The future hall of famer at the end of his prime is still a guy who should be able to bring a ton back in a trade. Listen it only takes one GM to make a bad deal.

Robinson is their best young player but I think we're going to have Adams here and don't want a center being the focal point of a return for us. I probably should've been more clear. I was interested in Frank given his price until we got SGA.

Very. Why not keep him and let him get on the court and remind all of these GM's that he would immediately be the best player on their teams. I personally like the 2023, because if Miami is a lottery team in 23-25 it becomes unprotected in 2026.
why do we want to make a team better, while we have 2 of their next 4 first round picks? Especially a 2021 unprotected.

we can't keep westbrook now. we just traded jerami grant for tax relief. why would westbrook even want to stay?

They can keep Robinson then. Give me more picks. I wouldn't trade Steve in a deal with Westbrook. Steve's $25 million on this team is good money. Maybe we can get him to sign an extension at declining dollar after this contract to assist with building for the 2025 Championship.

He's under contract. Presti has to do what's best for the organization. Even if that is keeping Westbrook until December 15th.

i just don't view this as fitting sam presti's character as a person or general manager.
