I would be surprised if the Thunder get much value for Westbrook. The value they will receive is mostly that someone else will pay his contract. Everyone knows both parties want a split. No leverage. Bidding war? Doubtful.

I could see Detroit blowing their load to pair him with Griffin. Multiple 1sts, Kennard, that forward they took this year. Something outrageous.

What about the flipside, use Gallinari's expiring to get Blake to OKC where he's from? My guess is DET is looking to chase the 8 seed again rather than get out of that contract but I think it would make sense for both sides. OKC unlikely to get value for RW so why not bring another player to him, keep running back playoff teams and attendance up then sort it out later. I'd guess OKC owners are ready to get out of the cap hell they're in though. Tough spot for all

Yeah, those owners want no part of the luxury tax bill that would create.

I think it's pretty much set in stone that it's somewhere in the $10-12 million range; just depends on what Brogdon's salary for next season is. At any rate, we're most likely renouncing it anyways. In order to keep it, I think we'd have to clear significantly more salary than just stretching Leuer in order for us to complete the signing of George Hill.

Frank Nova wrote:If the TPE is for 20m can we just trade it and absorb Goran Dragic? I wouldn't mind Dragic filling in for Brogdon for a season and then hes 19m expiring after the season. I think Dragic fits well as a 2ndary playmaker and spot up shooter and even tho he's a liability on defense we have the protection behind him in the starting lineup to hide him a bit. Dragic and Brogdon have similar styles imho.

Idk how TPEs work in trades but if that's possible I'd heavily consider it as a band aid move to contend again.

I'm almost certain that the TPE is only $10-12 million because of the base year compensation rule.

They were just willing to do it for PG but they have to be in the repeater tax area pretty bad right now. So I'd guess this PG demanding out move is gonna make them finally punt and tear it down rather than doubling down. Imagine if they'd just been willing to pay Harden a few more mil per year and pay the tax back then how the league would be different now?

Still, with the hoard of picks they just got Danillo and like two 1st for Blake and they're sitting in a descent spot. Two 'stars' to keep being competitive while a ton of 1sts to be restocking. IDK maybe could also trade for Beal with the other picks if they really want to keep trying to win. So many routes they could go, but my guess is on punting and getting under the cap for a real rebuild.

PG: Dragic/Hill/DDV
SG: Bledsoe/Matthews/Brown
SF: Middleton/Conny/Thanisis
PF: Giannis/Ersan/Wilson
C:Lopez/Lopez/Free Agent

That's one of a team going forward.

2015 dragic would be perfect for us but it seems injuries and age have taken their toll. I would pass (for now).

If we can get Sam Cassell, I'm all about it.

Just a reminder, the next 4 years Westbrook is owed 38.5, 41.4, 44.2 and 47.1 Million.

That very well might be the second worst contract in the league.

What do Harden, Durant, and Paul George have in common? None wanted to play with Russ when better choices presented themselves (I know Harden was traded, but hardly left kicking and screaming). No thanks.

Yeah, that's a lot for a guy who's already chased off two superstars, hasn't been out of the 1st round in three years, is over 30 and whose shooting is among the worst at his position. Hardest of passes.

When Cassell signed with the Bucks, he said something like, "Milwaukee is the place you want to go if you want to ball."

Excited about him joining the Bucks, I read that quote to my girlfriend (now my wife) and she, not knowing anything about sports, said, "WHAT THE HELL? HE SAID THAT?"

I didn't understand why she was so taken aback until I realized that she thought "ball" meant "have sex."

Definitely give the Bucks credit for holding on the Leuer stretch until all these other transactions go through, just in case Horst can get in on something.

Spitballing, something in season like Bled/Ersan for Beal then start Hill at PG. Of course, need to add picks or young players too. I'd think someone trumps that though.

You have the IND 2020 FRP and the 2024 FRP to start. You need then a third team for Bledsoe to send one more FRP to WAS. Young players like DDV, Brown and Wilson can be included. You also have the Brogdon exception to acquire some more picks if needed.

Hill, Beal, Middleton, Giannis, Brook
Pat, Matthews, Robin and one more vet
They are good to win it all.
