A lot of player movement all over the league and this upcoming season should be one of the best in league history in terms of parity.

Let's start it off on this topic... Is Westbrook traded now and if so where?

The realistic destinations for him seem as follows:

Knix
Detroit
Houston
Philly
Indiana
Miami
Orlando
Charlotte
Phoenix

Miami would probably want to pair him up with Jimmy Butler maybe.

Christmas Night 2019, Nets at the Clippers! The two “Little brothers” that will run the league for the next few years as the showcase game. Do it in LA for DJ.

It would be fun, but more than likely you guys are going to play the Lakers, and we'll be playing the Celtics.

Have the Knicks played on Christmas Day every year, similar to how the Dallas Cowboys and Washington Redskins play on Thanksgiving?

(Wow...as I typed that I just realized that the NFL is still operating on Cowboys vs. Indians platform for Thanksgiving SMH)

No disrespect but barring a trade for someone like Westbrook, the Knicks shouldn’t be on Christmas unless they 1) actually surprise people and 2) play the game at NOP. That’s the only narrative that could possibly have any semblance of significance warranting that they play on Christmas Day.

In the past 10+ years they either had Melo or Porzingis to showcase. Without them or another star, what’s the point?

Thanks for making the thread. Was going to do the same and start with Kawhi, considering the myriad subtopics that could be discussed about him, Raptors, Lakers, and Clippers. Some people are even connecting his move all the way back to the Spurs as well, so that’s another angle to be explored.

Now to your topic....

I wonder how Westbrook feels. Harden traded, KD leaves after intimating he stays, Ibaka wins a chip elsewhere, and the superstar who leads Ibaka and the Raptors to a title just recruited your running mate right from under you even though he just re-upped last season and is still under contract for 3 more years. That’s gotta cause some deep hurt and soul searching, right?

Westbrook seems to have a good relationship with LeBron. I wouldn’t be surprised if he explored a trade there, but I don’t think the Lakers have enough assets to acquire him.

Harden and Westbrook have extraordinarily high usage rates. I think the fit would be pretty terrible there.

If Milwaukee has the assets, Westbrook and Giannis would be a pretty formidable tandem.

Philly just offered (signed?) Simmons to a massive contract. I highly doubt they’d trade him now. Plus, Westbrook kinda seems to have issues with Embiid that go beyond an on-the-court fake rivalry.

But the two places where I could see Westbrook actually landing are 1) NYK and 2) MIA. It comes down to who would offer more quality assets to OKC and what Westbrook’s career goals are.

NYK
Westbrook is very interested in fashion. That in itself should make the Knicks an attraction for him.

If he’s ok with being the only guy, wants to continue his triple-double streak, and receive maximum exposure, he should go to NYK.

The Knicks could try to build around him, but his age and (more importantly) his contract make doing so quite difficult.

MIA
Miami makes the most sense to me overall though. Fantastic weather, great city culture, and excellent front office. While not New York, Westbrook’s fashion sense could thrive in Miami much more so than in OKC.

Westbrook and Jimmy are basically the same age, so MIA can even plan their exits in advance.

They both have a IDGAF attitude that can be the basis of a true friendship/partnership. Westbrook and Jimmy won’t be the best shooting tandem, but if you give them the right complementary pieces, they could be a darkhorse contender.

Finally, MIA is desperate to get back to true relevancy. I don’t see how Riley isn’t blowing up Presti’s phone and won’t hang up until they have the main details of a trade down. For them, this seems like an obvious path to pursue.

Another question to think about is whether the OKC franchise would actually remain in OKC, if Westbrook is traded.

Trading Russ to Miami may backfire though, if the Heat get better then those two draft picks get worse. I don’t think Westbrook would like it but what about a trade to Portland centered around CJ McCollum? Something like CJ, Nurkic and Nassir Little plus more draft picks. If you’re keeping Adams, find a third team to flip Nurkic to?

This may be a horrible trade for you guys, I just want to see Russ and Dame try to share the ball.

While I do believe there are many players who can play well for one team yet wouldn't have the same impact on another, I find it a little funny that the many of the Raptors fans who have commented on the signing on the GB are talking about developing RHJ.

I doubt they are thinking about it, but the perception almost makes it seem like RHJ wasn't developed (or at least not developed properly) before they signed him. That's kinda what we do here.

The contract is only for 1 year. If he were still in Brooklyn, he could just train all day. Whenever a player moves, they are going to spend at least a bit of time transitioning to their new city and adjusting to the environment.

I'd love for him to turn the clock back to the 2017-18 season. Considering that they allowed Kawhi to operate out of the midrange a lot, I wonder if they will extend that freedom to a number of their players this season.

I don't see any reason Portland swaps CJ for Russ for a plethora of reasons and tbh I think I take CJ over Russ just for on court basketball reasons right now.

There are too many good teams next season for them to get a game. Thankfully.

Anybody else feel people are overrating Philly?

They overpaid Harris 5/180 and Horford 4/109 while not adding a closer to their roster since they lost Jimmy Butler.

They are asking Simmons to be THAT guy that brings you home during the last 3 minutes of a game but my man shoots FT worse than Shaq and doesn't even look to shoot the ball. Those guys are easy to guard in today's NBA. We've just seen during the last playoffs where Butler was the one handling the ball for Philly and Simmons was told to clear out and now he's your closer?

Also losing JJ kills their spacing even more since Simmons/Horford/Embiid aren't exactly good shooters. Everyone's acting like Horford is Dirk when the stats says he's just an average shooter overall.

Josh Richardson is a solid 2 way wing that can do a bit everything but he's not the closer Butler is and definitely not as good as JJ creating space in the offense.

Don't get me wrong, they still have a lot of talent and expect them to be one of the better teams of the conference but they aren't built for a championship IMO.

ive said it in several different threads. only way they are better is a 100% healthy embiid who takes a step from top 10 player to shaq/god tier level. unlikely.

reddick was a huge loss and i love tobias but at SF he has a ton less value. butler to richardson is a big downgrade and horford helps defensively but hurts on offense. they could be an elite defensive team but i think durability and shooting are both big concerns now
