Re: Thunder Offseason Thread
Dragic, James Johnson, Herro, Bam, protection removed on the 2023 first, 2025 unprotected 1st, pick swaps for 2022, 2024 and 2026. Riley doesn't value picks and is desperate for a big name to pair with Butler. Riley is primed to overpay since they have a lot of cap clearing next off-season and he'll think he can lure another superstar to go with Russ and Butler. Of course, when Russ and Butler clash and Miami ends up picking in the top 10 it will crush Riley's hopes and dreams and it will only get worse from there.
Riley retires after a failed season and the new front office has no assets to dump Russ' corpse so all those Miami picks become gold.

He's dealing with Westbrook. It's totally different. Many fans won't forgive him if he uses Miami to get more from Detroit and send him there.
I would get over it very quickly.
Never said it's done. We never know with Presti. We learned this in the good and bad way

Am I the only one who still wants Russ to Houston? I know the Miami offer is better for the team but I just really want to watch Russ and Harden + shooters

Maybe Westbrook's camp know Orlando is offering a lot more so they are trying their best to pressure Presti to send him to Miami.
Still think we end up with Herro but that's it.
SGA and Herro would be pretty nice to start a rebuild
i don't know. i could be wrong. westbrook will have some say where he goes as well, unfortunately. the nature of trading star players. it might be possible there's some bidding war going on for westbrook but i don't think that's likely given his contract.
There are some other things that comes with Westbrook : ratings, selling etc. That's pretty much why it's pretty normal that a team that doesn't attract stars like Orlando is offering more than Miami. But Miami is in a tough position with many bad contracts and they are trying to build a team (with Jimmy Butler) to win in the years to come so I guess they could still give us enough for him.
i am not sold on those considerations being major factors for any team looking to acquire him given his contract.

I would love to see Russ, CP3 and Harden playing together. Houston would have to find a 3rd or 4th team to give up assets for Capela and Gordon and T.J. Warren would be the 3rd player to get the salaries to work. Houston would be a highly entertaining train wreck.

Dragic, Herro, and I don't really care about the rest if it's Miami.

Pat Riley, Zach Lowe and Woj should retire if that deal happens

I hate the Rockets. Fanbase, empty arena etc.
Don't think Russ fits at all with Houston style of play.
Only upside with Westbrook going to the Rockets would be that he would have a best chance to contend.

zach lowe has been contradictory. he compared westbrook's deal to john wall's, then says he thinks he'll end up in miami. john wall is not tradeable. i usually respect lowe and his even keel but he got caught out with the superlatives. i'm positive westbrook isn't close to john wall as a tradeable asset but he's probably a lot closer than we'd want.

Aren't we sending 3 picks back here?slick_watts wrote:Kizz Fastfists wrote:Dragic, James Johnson, Herro, Bam, protection removed on the 2023 first, 2025 unprotected 1st, pick swaps for 2022, 2024 and 2026. Yes and no. Pick swaps would mean OKC gets the better of the picks. Teams can not trade first round picks in consecutive years, but pick swaps allow for a loophole. Like we have 2023 and 2025 pick swaps with LAC. So if LAC gets the #1 pick in 2025 if goes to OKC for whatever pick they have in that draft. I would expect OKC to be sending their 2022, 2024 and 2026 picks to Miami for their picks in at least two of those years if not all three. I also expect OKC to be swapping with LAC in 2023 and 2025.

Summer league team was 2-29 from three. Diallo got a technical to allow Philly to send it to overtime.

Would Minny be stupid enough to send Culver, Okogie and picks? Do they really think a Russ/Wiggins/KAT trio would be good?

One of either okogie or culver would make me pretty happy. Is culver projected as 2 or 3?
