Naaah. Gordon is a starter averaging 18ppg next year. Brown will settle at around 16 coming of the bench. Gwilliams will be playing on the second unit along with Brown and Smart. I think defensively that unit will be very very good.

Matter fact, let’s try it out right now and don’t quote me any further, as this conversation is going nowhere.

If you don't post anything foolish, I won't call attention to foolishness in your posts.

What did he say that was so foolish? That he doesn’t believe wingspan is the end all be all for the making of a quality defender?

He made a weak argument in support of a not-crazy point. I showed that the argument was weak. He doubled down. Then he tripled down. Then he accused me of obsessing.

Or something like that. It's hard to summarize his posts in a way that makes them seem to make sense.

He also seems, albeit anecdotally, to be a higher BBIQ player than Sullinger was.

That three point shot will be vital. It gives him more flexibility and fit offensively.
Defensively I'm confident he'll be in the right spot, is strong and will work hard. Sometimes the mismatch will be tough I guess.

Man, I hope he works out. I have my doubts, but only because of things I worry are outside his control. He just screams 'pro'.

Bro, you’re just digging yourself a deeper grave here.

You engaged ME over the nonsense wingspan debate and only you here are doubling down with your idiocy to the point where you’re now literally just “arguing about an argument”.

Pot meet kettle.

Keep going though with your incoherent rambling. It’s now entertaining seeing what kind of moronic responses you can keep coming up with over a debate that ended five posts ago....

I do not think it is a coincidence GW lead the summer league team in +- for both games. He plays a smart game even when his shots aren't falling. Although this is a very, very small sample size in lessor competition... We may have found our starting power forward.

totally agree, he looks awesome. But we probably haven't found our starting power forward this year. I like to remember Draymond only got 3 points and 3 rebounds in 13 minutes his first year. Williams is wicked smart and might hit his potential quicker, but I woudn't be sad at all if it took him a couple years to show up.

Brown will look to leave. I think that’s a mistake because he has more long term ability. Brown is the only starter level player we can call a very good defender.

Playing Gordon at the 4 with Kanter at 5 will be a joke in the playoffs. A decent team will destroy the celts in the lane.

Huh. In yesterday's game the highlights clearly show GW... made a put back basket, made a 3 pointer that hit the backboard and a made a turnaround dunk in the 4th quarter. But ESPN game stats say he only made two of six.

The math is off and the "fix" is in.

Tatum will probably start at the 4 in regular season. By playoffs a lot might change and we trade for a 4. But Tatum needs to put on some muscle mass or we will be in trouble either way.

His 3 pt shot looks smoother than Sully. I always thought Sully had a nice shot but he just never made them at a high enough rate. I think Grant can knock them down at 35% clip some day, especially if isn’t forcing it.
"I think the criticism's stupid," Stevens said. "So I don't care. I'm with Jaylen (Brown) on that. Those two had achieved more than most 25 and 26 year olds ever had. I'd rather be in the mix and have my guts ripped out than suck."

Watch it. Good breakdown of Grant's ability to see the floor on defense and react accordingly.

Good stuff. Called out the second to last clip from the video (starts at the 1:40 mark) in the game thread. Great D followed by an excellent rotation. He definitely sees the game from a veteran point of view and has potential to be a coach on the floor.

Now does he have the quickness to guard 2s and 3s, or to get by his man off the dribble? That's still TBD but it's evident that the game moves real slow for him out there.

He could be very useful playing alongside the defensively challenged Kanter. Scal said way before summer league even started that he felt GWill would start 40 games for us this season. I originally thought that was a stretch, but now I'm not so sure.

Who starts on opening night will be decided in training camp and in preseason but if it were up to me, Kanter would be the main backup big who can feast against opposing bench units and whose defensive inadequacy cannot hurt the team much. I would start either R.WIlliams or Poirier alongside our offense-oriented wing rotation + Kemba. That way, both units are more balanced.

Bulk of second unit scoring will come from Edwards and Kanter while being surrounded by really good defenders in Smart/Ojeleye/Theis/G.Williams who can all stroke it from distance.

Watch GWill defend/annihilate the roll man. :D

Given all of his other great characteristics, the strength and toughness is good to see.

It's interesting and ironic that he plays chess because it looks like he's playing chess on the court while the others are playing checkers.

YO if anyone has tonight’s game against DEN recorded watch GW on defense at the 7:00 mark of the 2nd quarter. He helps cut off a slow-break drive, recovers to menace the guy that the ball gets dropped off to in the lane, and then, realizing he can’t close out fast enough to the wide open three point shooter TAPS THE GUY UNDERHAND ON THE KNEE as he shoots it. And the guy shoots an airball.

Are you all tapping shooters underhand on the knee when you play? Have you ever taught that when you coach? Straight Draymond stuff he guarded all of the action from three players on one possession Smart is going to be BFFs with this guy.
