Top 8 Teams in the West Today

Post#1 » by Jinra » Tue Jul 2, 2019 5:58 pm

Let's have a bit of fun while we anticipate the next Mavs move.

List your top 8 teams in the West right now.

Give me:
Mavericks
Lakers
Jazz
Nuggets
Rockets
Blazers
Thunder
Kings

I think Warriors, Spurs and Clippers, right now today have slipped out of top 8.

Replace the Warriors with the Blazers IMO.

The Blazers take a step back. The Warriors will still make the playoffs I think.

LA
Golden State
Rockets
Portland
OKC
Utah
Denver
LA Clippers

8th place is imo the only one up for grabs with LA Clippers/Kings/Mavs being the main favorites for it

Won't count the Spurs out with Murray coming back and I expect Walker to contribute some.

Can see Spurs, Clips, Mavs, Pels, and Kings all going for 8th.

Mavs not making playoffs with this squad. Would have to make trades and/or hopefully sign somebody halfway decent with the cap space they still have available.

No way the Mavs are top 8. They’re going to be close to .500, but there are a lot of good teams in the West (and no real powerhouse). They’re still in the 10-13 range with the Wolves, the Pels and the Clips (without Kawhi).

Nuggets
Jazz
Rockets
Warriors
Blazers
Lakers
Thunder
Spurs or Kings

Even if Kp plays 60 games and is net neutral, I still don't think we make the PO, unless Luka and Brunson get much better. Alsom I don't think LA gets higher than 6th.

Dont think Lakers are in that top tier unless they get kawhi. Lebron cant really play all games anymore, and AD with equal or maybe even worse team then NO had last year isnt that great. I think they will struggle once we are like a month into the season

I don't see how people think we're ahead of the Pels, they are much deeper than our 2 man caliber rotation.

I could see Klay coming back in a knee sleeve at the start of January 2020 tbh.

Spurs should be higher up than the Kings, but if these aren't ranked in a particular order, then I understand.

Since we own our 2020 pick and with the West being stacked, it wouldnt surprise me if Cuban has the team do a soft tank. Im not for it, but it wouldnt shock me if we did.

#1 Clippers
#2 Jazz
#3 Lakers
#4 Rockets
#5 Nuggets
#6 Warriors
#7 Trail Blazers
#8 Spurs/Kings/Mavs

Damn, western conference is so hard. If we were in the weak east..no way for the first 7 positions, they are just decided imo. We'll have to battle against Spurs and Sac for the last spot. Am I too much optimistic?

The Mavs still needs an elite 3D stopper type and elite playmakers to be relevant. We'll see how things work out. But adjusting the zone defense and newcomer playing key roles take time. Players may struggle with so limited minutes as well.. RC may take time to figure it out. Anyway, if the Mavs is in playoff, great because Zinger is playing in top shape. If not, also great because the Mavs could land an elite playmakers with 2020 first and an elite stopper with 2020 second. With GSW second rounder, the Mavs may look at combo guard as well. That's normal curve to playoff. Don't count the Mavs out. A lot of older teams may see a roller coaster drop to the hell very soon.
