They, again, successfully ruined their own plot (of which I will say, again, was great.)
I'm incredulous, I abstained from sleeping to see the final 3 episodes and I'm upset. Ruined a great cast, great plot- which includes the prime of these children's lives. They've started as a genuine fanfiction and ended chasing disney-esque commercial status in disgusting fashion these past 2.
I'll admit I wasn't expecting the advent of the American shopping mall to be a story in this show, and they delivered it beautifully. The cinematography was a piece of art. There were a few things that they could've did to have made it more vintage, but it doesn't matter. I expected some jingoism after their promo/premiere on the 4th, but let some of it go due to that time in America.
Part(s) that pissed me off in both of the last two seasons occur in the denouement, and I get it: new characters makes things difficult... But man they've indulged in the fiction waaaay too much. There was a lot of points in the final two episodes where I hoped that the director would have just killed off everyone and start the next plot with some of the other psychic kids in another city because that would have been the only way they would've been able to keep some validity. Killing off Hopper and Billy didn't make it any less fanatical. Can't even bring myself to recall every detail but I'm upset.
It was so past disturbing by the time that El was set to die at the hands of the 'mind flayer' that I knew it was going to fall into the hands of some time of moral ambiguity to save her. So much chit, total croc of chit. They insulted the intelligence of all their fans for a happy ending, upsetting. Did the same thing with Bob last SZN, but in a different way. I'll probably shamelessly watch the next SZN, but maybe not, so weak.
And don't get me started with the Hopper v. Russian mob guy saga; the smart, tough, dutiful American against the corrupt Russian brute. Oh god, they are so much better than all the cliches that they've let loose on this series and it will likely only get worse. I imagine next SZN El will be powerless and it will be up to gang(and her 'sister') to save her from some mutant insurgence because the latter would be redundant. Tcccchuirps.
