I think if the trade is between us and Milwaukee then trade we should trade nothing of value for Russ, let Milwaukee take Westbrook on because I highly doubt they will be prepared to pay Westbrook, Middleton and pay Giannis the supermax over the next 4+ years.

Agreed. OKC has no leverage here.

We’re dreaming of Westbrook and gonna end up with T-Rex Herro, who was outplayed by Nunn by the way, as our savior WTF

You're welcome LeBron.

Agreed. OKC has no leverage here.

The leverage is they dont have to trade him for JJ, Waiters, and Dragic. He's under contract. He's always been loyal to OKC from top to bottom. What's he going to do drop his pants first game if they don't trade him to Miami? OKC will budge when they get at least one decent young player which imo is most likely Winslow.

OKC is trying to do right by Westbrook and the trade to Miami is inevitable but i would be damn shocked if they dont get atleast one good young player out of this from us. Especially if we need them to toss in a pick to a third team to shed salary on our behalf.

I don't understand Cleveland not getting involved here. What are they going to do with JR Smith why extend the expiry date to waive him and wait unless you are trying to trade him?

Wrangling for compensation. We probably want them to take on JJ or Waiters but need OKC to pony up the pick that's needed. This is why I think Winslow almost certainly will be included in deal.

Would we likely be the only team offering a positive asset, none the less a starter, and expiree, for WB's contract?

i dont think this is the issue. I think the only thing left is to find the compensation for the 3rd team

At this point it seems clear that,

- OKC wants to do right by Westbrook.

- Other teams aren't showing real interest in him.

- Westbrook doesn't want to be in Detroit or Minnesota

- Westbrook wants to be in Miami.

- Westbrook has 15% trade kicker if OKC try to get cute.

- OKC keeping Westbrook would ruin their rebuild with all the picks they have being in the 20's or so.

Nunn is a 23 year old nba sophomore who has 4 years of college and 1 gleague season under his belt. He also averaged 26 points per game his senior year. Nunn was no bum... wonder what a 23 year old Herro would look like? Hope we are the ones to find out first hand.

With our hard cap issues... we need to hold on to every good player with upside we can. If and once the Westbrook deal goes through, we may not have much wiggle room to bring in quality depth. This is why it’s essential that we retain as much of our quality youth as possible since our options would be limited to fill out the bench for a good run this season.

We'll prolly lose Winnie/Waiters and give swap rights to a 2030 pick or some chit

Hopefully the Heat signing Herro means they know the financials of the Westbrook trade and are just ironing out the details.

I think it's a tricky situation. Especially when pressed against the hard cap and getting a third team involved to get two teams cap relief. OKC wants out of lux tax and we want away from hard cap to make more moves. Who compensates the third team for doing this? That has to be OKC right?

This is also my best guess. Hoping it's JJ instead. I would like to keep Waiters around with this group. Waiters already has experience playing with brodie.

Options for trading Westbrook seem like there dwindling for OKC. If the Heat hold steadfast I think they may get him for a complete salary dump and a pick swap/protection removal.

The fact that Russ has a trade kicker makes his contract that much uglier.
