This notion that Westbrook is going to be pissy with an organization that he signed on very well knowing he was going to be the main man is distorted. I don't think Westbrook even requested a trade, It's more OKC that's trying to see if they can do right by him and get him into a better situation as respect. They are not going to just give him away for scraps. They might just settle on Winslow but that's to be determined.

disagree with you. Reports are that Westbrook wants to compete, and knowing that OKC are hitting the rest button has him wanting out. He wants to compete at the tail end of his career, not fight to get out of a crowded western conference.

At the end of the day the big 3 came to Miami because of Riley. Wade, James and Bosh were heading to Chicago. Chicago front office was in turmoil. No one respected the man who was running the Knicks. Because of Riley reputation and influence on Wade, they all decided Miami. Wade sold Miami by explaining how good Riley was for them, and the trust in him building a title team.

All I know is we better not have interest in Paul. As bad of a contract, older and much whinier than Russ.

Arguably better than Russ with one less yr on his contract, if we're contemplating trading assets for Russ, we shouldn't close the other door so soon

The problem is both teams have leverage. OKC knows Miami needs Westbrook to really compete otherwise we wouldn't bother. Westbrook also isn't forcing their hand and demanding a trade. He'd be fine with staying in Oklahoma. Miami's leverage is that they know OKC wants to rebuild and they can't do that with Westbrook's contract which makes them more desperate to move on. They also seem to be the only serious team bidding for him which seriously helps with the leverage.

OKC is going to want good value for a MVP level player, but the contract is huge and he has red flags. But Miami needs a Westbrook level player to really have a shot. Riley and Presti are both good negotiators.

Hence the stalemate.

Sorry but Miami has all the leverage. They don’t need Russ and the longer OKC have him the worse his contract gets

Homestly i woulsnt get too aggressive...... id back off, play the season, see if OKC calls again... facts are no one is breaking down the walls wanting to trade for that massive contract. Russell, John Wall, CP3 and Kevin Love - the owners of the 4 worst contracts in the NBA, will always be available.. if Miami doesnt complete a trade this season, Westbrook will be there next offseason and his contract will them start at 41 million, even less leverage for OKC. Its a giant commitment to absorb that kind of deal...

Harden/WB would have to play some defense, but I would be intrigue. Nothing but Iso's and transition buckets. If WB could replicate at least a little more than half of his FTr then their one of the most complicated offenses ever.

I wouldn't see how that package sans a fruit basket of picks would be better than a 20 Mil expiree in Dragic, but maybe they would offer a basket
