Feels like yesterday Chris Paul was in Oklahoma City playing at the Ford Center. It's too late to bring back the younger more humble Chris Paul who held free basketball camps across the street at the Myriad Convention Center.

Good trade for OKC. Miami musta really lowballed. Really hate it for Houston - think they paid 2 picks and 2 swaps to get worse.

Gnik wrote:Honestly, CP3 can't even stay on the court and has been sh*t a lot of times when he is the past seasons that I actually think shipping him and getting Westbrook is actually a good thing. At the very least, you can get some rest for Harden who has been carrying this team, which was supposed to have 2 superstars with him and CP3.

Plus is Russ not close friends with Harden? I don't see them fighting over the ball if that's the case.

You know how many people are good friends off court but want to bash each others head in when they play together?

A whole lot probably. Friends dont mean jack chemistry is everything.

Do the Lakers and Clippers have the assets to trade for Chris Paul?

lol OKC wont pay the luxury tax but they will spend 100+ million to buy out CP3? Okay....

Probably more likely a trade than a buyout, I'm sure there are some contenders willing to take a chance on Chris Paul. There is absolutely no logic on either side for Chris Paul to play in a thunder uniform.

Chris paul situation is very interesting, I wonder how he feels about going to OKC. how many contenders can match salary in a trade for Chris Paul? Paul will be making 38 million this season. At age 34 and declining, this will likely be his last NBA contract playing at a relevant level, would he be content spending his last few years in OKC not in championship contention? I wonder how plugged in Chris was to this situation or if he was blindsided

Westbrook gives Houston a better chance of staying healthy and therefore, even if they have the same impact, though in different ways, the healthier player is the better player. With Paul being older and ageing every season, the impact is probably not the same.

I might be in the minority but i'd take CP3 over WB...Westbrook cant shoot like at all..I have a hard time seeing him change at this stage of his career..He'll probably do better with shooters around him. Will WB be ok with Harden handling the ball majority of the time?

No. Harden gonna have to move back to off ball

I don't know if that will be the case. In OKC, he was lower in the hierarchy, also he got a lot of on ball time when he was with the bench. In Houston, he's been the top dog for how many years now? I think it is very unlikely that Harden becomes some off ball guy. D'Antoni will probably continue the same thing, where Westbrook will get good minutes with the bench without Harden, and when they are on the court together, they will figure it out.

I like Morey, but he got absolutely fleeced by Presti here.

Presti get 2 first round picks, 2 pick swaps which is good for them as they need to stock up on assets. CP3's contract also expires a year earlier than Westbrook so more financial flexibility there.

Morey get an arguably worse player in Westbrook (I think CP3 > Westbrook but it's close to a wash), and a definitively worse fit than CP3 (CP3 has a better jumper than Westbrook). And Westbrook's game is going to age terribly and it's honestly probably no better than the Westbrook contract. And you're throwing away draft picks for that.

Morey better hope that Russ's game gets back on track next year because he was trash last year.

I am going to miss Chris Paul.
He's still a high impact player, just not as he was at his best, but the injuries are tough, and I'm assuming that is on Houston's mind. Of course this is the kind of situation where the player suddenly becomes the model of health after a trade like this, but history is not on his side. He's still more impactful than many people are imagining, and I'm not sold that Westbrook is much of an upgrade in anything but health...but actually being on the floor is the most important aspect of a player.

The Rockets could easily maintain a high seed to enter the playoffs without this trade. They needed Paul for playoffs purposes. He's a much more impactful player than Westbrook in every way possible, so I don't know how I feel about this trade. I am a Rockets fan NOT a James Harden only fan, and I may resent him and this move if things don't work out. We will see, but I just don't see how the Rockets improved in any regard.

Westbrook is a fraud but Harden isn't. OK.
2 WCF trips with Harden as the leader, where did Russ lead OKC? Exactly. He's a fraud in my opinion, maybe not your's, but you ain't changing my opinion and I don't give a **** about your's. Results speak for themselves, conversation over.
