The Thunder are only 3 million or something like that above the luxury tax threshold. Not that hard to get under.

Thunder were clearly in rebuild mode after PG was traded so it doesn't matter if they have paul or Westbrook. Now they just have a few more picks.

Don't fully understand this for the rockets because this trade didn't really make them better.

Yeah, sorry if I'm overthinking this. I'm just not convinced Houston is better off this way.

CP3 and Harden worked because both guys can shoot. Westbrook can't. So when Harden is running the offense what does Westbrook do?

Are we sure the Thunder go rebuild rather than retool? Honestly, if Ainge feels it's in his best move to trade Brown because of the financial flexibility concerns, I'm not so sure Presti might not be interested. Whether he trades/cuts or keeps Adams and CP3 will bear watching of course.

Since the NBA is all about teaming up this is a win for the Celtics with Westbrook going to Houston...not to Miami....not to NY

Clearly a big win (although many of those picks through at least 2024 may end up not being so great). Compared with the alternative of running it back, this is a major improvement.

The other hidden point on the return they got on PG was that they had the Clippers over a barrel thanks to Kawhi.

They should rebuild. Their best picks will be their own and they don’t have the talent to justify adding guys who are coming up on paydays.

They will probably eat the money unless Paul gives up a lot in a buyout.

No one is taking their money as a free agent the next couple of years, and he is a massive $44m expiring in 2021-22.

Apparently I spaced out typing. I meant those future Houston picks could be a windfall or not, being so distant and lightly protected. And they could use some of their newly acquired picks to dump Paul's salary elsewhere.

Somehow I suggested they could flip paul for a windfall which is of course ludicrous

Quite a gamble with the picks. Not that far from the AD trade everyone was fawning over Griffin for.

Presti with these deals is looking like the best GM in the entire NBA. Crazy the haul he has gotten for George and Westbrook.

I'm almost ready to bet that the Rockets will be imploding before the trade deadline.

How does this work? Can OKC buyout Paul and trade him? to LA, for example. Or can they trade him straight up without the buyout

This season is wide open. Might as well.
