CP3 w/o giving up any young assets is an interesting proposition.

I'm still holding out hope for a Beal deal so holding onto the youngsters is a must.

What you guys don't get is that a depleted team with just Butler and Westbrook wins nothing PLUS Westbrook takes you out of 2021 free agency.

A team with Westbrook has a chance because he is on the the team.

This team as constructed wins nothing. Leaving 2021 FA without a legit free agent still gets you no where. 2021 isn't a sure thing. People resign with teams, get injured, or straight up signs somewhere else.

Imagine 2021 comes and Jimmy is by himself , Bam and Winslow are not all stars and The Greek Freak says “ I’m staying in Milwaukee “ Oof

Thank you!! This is exactly what they're not factoring.

You need picks to move CP, so it makes no sense for OKC to move him sans buyout. CP's not the type to burn 125 M's, so we'll see

Fax are stil fax, Russ is still overrated and Rok's traded Old, expensive and could shoot, for relatively young, expensive and can't shoot

Hopefully playing in a system and with a top 5 player affects him greatly

Deserved the MVP that year though, imo. Russ was something else that year, an outlier year for him in terms of his outside shot and clutch performances. Advanced metrics all favored him over Harden too.

6th seed, likely doesn't get the award if it isn't for the 'triple double' platitude. Haven't checked the advanced metrics bit, would need link for that

Probably not, but I think it'd be another unfair case of not giving the award to the actual most valuable player. That was one of the worst constructed teams I've ever seen, three non-shooters were starting next to Russ (Adams, Sabonis, Roberson) and the other one was Oladipo who wasn't nearly as good and was an inconsistent shooter back then. Miracle that he made them into an above average offense.

People say Westbrook is a cancer and hurts a team. Then those same people clown Pat and the Heat because they didn't get him.

Good for OKC. They got more picks, which should be pretty good at the time they convey. They will have 3 picks in both the 2024 and 2026 drafts. The Clips and Rox could rebuild quickly by then, but those picks right now look to be pretty high quality.

What if 2021 comes and Westbrook is no longer athletic enough to impose his will and he doesn't have the Basketball IQ or skillset to still be good while having a couple of years left on the max contract? I could understand trading guys in the middle of the road on bigger contracts, JJ, Waiters, maybe even Dragic, but not the younger guys who still have long term value as trade assets(at the very least).

People saying oh another star will be disgruntled. Let's say Beal or Giannis becomes disgruntled. You have 2 problems to overcome.

Giving up WAY more and completely depleting the team.

Teams with better proven young talent and draft picks will have better offers.

Some of ya'll need to calm down a little. Pat Riley is not gonna sit down for the next 2 years and wait for 2021 FA. There will be other opportunities that come up. Porzingis, Butler, Tobias, Conley, Westbrook, PG13 got traded over the course of one year. Some other allstars will be available in the next 2 years. We don't have to rush to do a bad deal.

No thanks at any trade involving cp3. I dont want him here even for free.. the guy is as toxic as it gets. Spare me the Wade brotherhood nonsense... i hope OKC trades him to Detroit so he can reunite with a guy he tried to jump..

The Nets just got Irving and Durant, you guys need to let this "the Heat can't do that" stuff go. The odds of the Heat getting a star in 2021 is more than 25% right now I'd say.

Gonna be fun to see how they can elevate their games this year, particularly alongside a star like Butler - who'se gonna have a big year. I'm pumped.

No mention of T-Rex Tyler anywhere in this post , smh. Come ok Wiltz

Expectations too high for Tyler this year Doc. He's gotta earn it - he's a rook whose gonna take his lumps. I don't see him playing more than 18-20mpg tops this season, hopefully showing flashes on the player he can become.
