OKC to meet with CP3 & trade him to his preferred destination

Post#1 » by mszymko » Fri Jul 12, 2019 6:06 am

https://sports.yahoo.com/reports-thunder-gm-meet-chris-024644121.html

Where is he headed?

"Source, to the @TheAthletic: Chris Paul's agent, Leon Rose, will talk to OKC GM Sam Presti in the coming days to determine what's next. If CP wants to go to Miami to join Jimmy Butler, it's clear there's a deal to be done there. The Thunder would engage and have interest."

"Houston hoped to find third-team destination preferable to Chris Paul, but ultimately leaves it OKC to execute next step once Presti confers w/ CP3 agent Leon Rose. Miami remains possibility for Paul (3 years, $124M) -- and OKC obviously has picks to incentivize deal, if needed."

OKC going to own everyone's draft picks.

It sucks having to lose all your stars but if you had to, this is the way to do it.

Honestly, I hope he and Melo end up with the Lakers. Would be a lot of fun, CP3 would look prime again next to Lebron and AD and they can let Melo do Melo all he wants on second unit.

It's nice that OKC is willing to accomodate CP3 but I just don't see which team would willingly take on his contract.

Not many options out there. Miami feels like it's it really. Detroit could work. Minny maybe. Maybe the Spurs throw their hat in. Both LA teams can't really do anything until the season with all their salaries frozen.
The hero Orlando deserves is out there somewhere, Dwight was not the one we needed. So we will hunt for him...

I agree, hard to imagine. OKC, still gets a year less with CP3.

Miami is really the only option ATM that makes sense.

Why would Pat Riley do this? Heat have good flexibility right now and can attract free agents. No need to pay CP3 40/year until he's 37.

Agreed. I am very impressed with what they got from blowing up team that were destined for 1st round exit every year. Now it feels like they have future.

CP3 may have to come to terms with the possibility of getting bought out.

If they couldn't find a third team to take Chris Paul on as part of this deal, that should have been a clue for Presti.

He is 74. He needs to make stuff happen.

I doubt he got Jimmy Butler with the idea to let him hang out by himself and be a middling team. Maybe he is willing to roll the dice with CP3 in a weak Eastern Conference.

Melo is done and CP3 will not play for Lakers
