Re: 2019 Heat Offseason thread 4.0- Yimmy and the Kids!
Riley has painted himself in a corner with the Butler trade. If he’s all in on winning now, he needs to trade for Paul (for Dragic, Waiters, Johnson, etc) and extract some draft picks from the Thunder. And then because he wants to win now, he needs to flip those picks along with our other assets (Winslow, Herro, Jones, not Bam), for real all stars that can help the Heat win now.
For a long time it gave me nightmares, witnessing an injustice like that. It’s a constant reminder of just how unfair this world can be.I can still hear them taunting him, Silly Rabbit tricks are for kids.I mean why couldn’t they just give him some cereal?

Fat Waiters was the best Waiters career wise lol. Because he was too fat to take ill advised shots.JustiseForMiami wrote:batterybro42 wrote:JustiseForMiami wrote:
Waiters, eh? I’m drunk and have the hottest waitress ever so feeling good. You got one shot. Go.
Waiters can be a solid third option when not fat, shooting is really good right now, if he can gain some of his explosiveness he can be a highly effective player. That’s why Pat likes Waiters, there are some really good qualities of his game. He has the tools to be a real scorer he’s just only ever put it together for one stretch during 2017
You lost me with "when not fat"

IMO, definitely not. Top 4 in east though. Does CP3 warrant missing out on a stacked 21' FA class? Nah. Let Jimmy lead this group with hopeful improvement from the young guys.
It absolutely makes us a challenger
By saying it doesn’t that makes me believe that you think Harden is just light years ahead of Jimmy Butler as a player
The Rockets were 2 games away from being in the finals with this washed character you call CP3 as their number 2
Put them in the East and they take the Raptors to what 7?
Our supporting cast around our 2 stars let’s say CP3 and Jimmy>>that what the Rockets ever put around their two center pieces
You guys really are undervaluing CP3 and what he does for a basketball team. Go look at his career he’s scratched the ceiling so many times with his respective teams. Not his fault he’s run into the Spurs and Warriors at the pinnacle of their runs. He gave every challenge a tough battle in a war zone of a conference.
This guy wins ball games and can run a team with the best of them

You don't get more points for shooting unguarded 3s vs shooting guarded 3s. You're basically arguing that Winslow isn't a 3-point threat because he doesn't attempt 7 3s a game. Also, you're wrong about a defender not having to worry about Winslow shooting 3s because he only shoots open 3s well. If Winslow's shooting 45% on open 3s, defenders will be MORE inclined to worry about him being open not less.
Think about this, Player A and B attempt 5 3s per 36 minutes. Player A shoots 36% from 3 but 34% on guarded 3s. Player B shoots 38% from 3 but 32% on guarded 3s. Who's the better 3-point shooter? Obviously player B.
But the point is a good defensive team has more options to cheat when a player needs space to shoot. That is nothing new.
That doesn't make any sense. I'm making the argument that unguarded shooting vs guarded shooting is almost irrelevant if everything else is the same. If I'm shooting 45% unguarded from 3, why would you leave me open? Wouldn't you be more likely to defend a great open shooter rather than a great contested shooter?
No, what I’m referring to is defenders know you ARE a liability shooting, period, whether is 3 points or 12 footers, and Winslow IS a liability shooting any contested shots unless is a layup, and even those open shots are prayers, and whoever says he is a sharp open shooter is simply exaggerating. That’s really what I’m referring to.

Chris Paul will make Bam alone a 15-17 point a game scorer imo. I hope we can get him, I’d love to have him in Miami for our bad contracts and a pick coming back this way

I think it's safe to say you don't watch basketball
Yeah CP3's contract is bad, you people acting like he is Dragic tier have lost your minds, and probably have never seen him play
What the hell are you talking about!
You don’t know a damn thing about me and basketball. So it is safe to say you are talking .....!

I refuse to put any energy into the possibility of a CP3 trade.
Wasn't as productive as I would have liked the past couple days thanks to the Westbrook BS

Does this mean we are still pursuing CP but just not in the manner or urgency as Westbrook?
There’s definitely no young players being traded for CP.
I feel the Heat was willing to give up Winslow but they wanted Bam and Herro so, this deal coming down to players like Dragic, JJ and we obtain a first round pick.

IMO the Heat saw Winslow and WB as similar players based on basketball skill sets ( no I’m not saying talent wise but their approach to the game), were Bam is our only interior defender and Herro is our sharp shooting hope of the future plus.

It means, unless we're getting extreme incentive aka our two first rounders back. There will be no deal. As it should be.

I rather trade with San Antonio for Aldridge since it expires in 2021. Goran & Kelly for Aldridge should get it done. He's a good second guy to be with Jimmy as the young guys develop while still having some bench depth.

" Miami will listen and do due diligence on the matter but the Heat do not have a very strong interest and is not aggressively pursuing a trade for Paul at this time. Miami would need to be absolutely overwhelmed to consider taking on the final three years of CP3 contract"
"For Miami to consider this, OKC would need not only to take back only unappealing contracts but would need to offer other significant concessions. One could be the Thunder returning Miami’s 2021 and 2023 first-round picks."
So yea' its like what most of us think, picks or **** off.

I see no pathway for the Thunder to get out from under that Paul deal unless they include two first round picks. I'm looking down the line, and there isn't a single team that doesn't already have a long term plan at point guard or significant resources already in the position.
You gon' have to pay up, now Presti. Or eat that deal.

When the owner signed on to the Paul deal they knew full well they were going to end up keeping Paul. They got two first round picks for there troubles and are about to get under the tax line. They will surround that contract with a bunch of cheap talented labor in the near future.
