A league source told the Miami Herald that the Heat will listen and do due diligence on the matter, but that the Heat does not have strong interest and is not aggressively pursuing a trade for Paul at this time.

Miami would need to be absolutely overwhelmed to consider taking on the final three years and $124 million of Paul’s contract, considering the veteran point guard’s age (34) and lack of durability.

For Miami to consider this, OKC would need not only to take back only unappealing contracts but would need to offer other significant concessions.

Miami should ask for their picks back and/or SGA. Might as well see how much you can gain.

So OKC traded PG for SGA and picks ... only to then trade Westbrook for Paul and use their haul from the PG deal to unload Paul? Makes a ton of sense.

If Minny can pull it off that would be great.
I doubt Chris Paul is considering Minnesota.

Not the most appealing location compared to Miami and LA but playing with Towns and with the opportunity to revive a long dead franchise. He is also very close to Okogie who he managed on his AAU team, he'd be great next to Culver. If OKC can somehow throw Galo into the deal, a Galo+Covington+Towns front court immediately gets him contending. I'll do it if I was Paul.
It also assures he won't ever win a ring. Unless, after his contract he decided to ring chase for the minimum, and I doubt he intends on doing so.

He isn't going to be bought out and at this point there isn't much money out there anyways.

OKC will try to find a place for him but according to reports Miami has expressed tepid interest. I don't see OKC moving assets to get rid of him so he will have to find a destination that works.

If not he plays out the season with OKC

I really like the scenario Broussard brought up on The Herd -- Philadelphia for Simmons...

If Philly wants to win now, and improve a questionable area of offense that they have on their team, when it comes down to it, they do the trade. Simmons at PG with the rest of the team unless he becomes a consistent shooter (doubtful), is not a solid fit. I doubt he'll transform into a competent shooter next year.

As far as where Paul would want to go?? Doubtful its LAC. I think Miami or Milwaukee... Lakers? Hah, that would be wild.

I think it will be Dallas. Hardaway Jr and Courtney Lee for Paul works salarywise. Creates Paul-Doncic-Porzingis Big 3, and Dallas would still have the $20M Harrison Barnes TPE to add another piece.

it's not happening. Simmons was untouchable for Kawhi and AD. The Sixers aren't going to trade him for a broken down Paul.

Lets get back to the real world.

That would just be plain stupidity! If the sixers do that, they would be the dumbest franchise in history.

-$1.1 million in apron space which is important since they're hard capped.
-to take on CP3's $38,506,482 salary, they'd need to send out at least $37.5.
-19/20 apron is $138 million
-should be a pretty easy trade to execute. Goran, Winslow, Leonard and a pick.

That is incorrect. The 120 rule applies. So they would have to send out around 30 million

I believe Miami is hard capped due to the sign and trade thus they couldn’t take full advantage of the 125% rule.

correct.

only way OKC can get rid of CP3 is to include 2 or 3 of the first rounders from their war chest. Then the $124 million on CP3's deal seems more manageable.

If he is willing to opt out of his 21/22 player option ... Than maybe he can get to a good team...2021 free agancy will again be big, so I'm sure team like Dallas would want to be a player in 2021 and not have Paul last year 44 million contract.

If a player under contract doesn't want to play for a team and the team has no interest in the player either, can the contract just be annulled? Just curious if there is a provision for this.

No player is walking away from $120M guaranteed, and I doubt the NBAPA and the league would allow it. Even if the player and team were in agreement, if they attempted a buyout for a huge discount, I think the buyout would be voided.
