It looks like they got the 16 year old Quebec OF (Masson) signed as well.

Wow, wasn't expecting that. He's basically J2-aged, which is neat.

Clarke fell on signability (and I'm guessing would have gone quite a bit higher had people known that he'd sign for 4th round money), but we also had the good fortune of the draft falling before the College World Series...he was hardly a below-the-radar prospect at Vanderbilt, but seemed to get rave reviews on that stage.

And he's off to a great start on that wretched Vancouver team.

Depends what we gave masson. If it is anything more than 125K, then you prob right, but we still have about 75K to play with depending on masson.

He got just under $300K, so basically everything we had left. No reason to expect a HS kid to sign for the $125K.

Especially a 16 year old who'd have been draft-eligible again at a ridiculously young age. He's heading to the Dominican Summer League, apparently; don't know that I've ever seen a draftee go to the DSL before.

The 10th rounder from Puerto Rico - Glenn Santiago - is in the DSL and has been for a while now. Now doing too hot so far.

I didn't realize that Masson was 6'3. He looks a lot more physical than what I had pictured in my head.
