Warriors signed Alen Smailagic, the No. 39 pick to a four-year, $6.13 million deal

Even in Serbia no one outside inner basketball circles knows almost nothing about this kid. He went from a small Serbian club competing in a lower league to Santa Cruz and then signed with the GSW.

I wish him all the best.

Plays good at SL but he is often ignored by his teammates on offense

I think of this site as one for basketball junkies, people who really love basketball, not the average fan. I love sports and basketball and really pay attention and I know who this guy is because there where threads about him before the draft and he was the youngest player in the G league last year. So it’s just weird that you have never even heard of this guy as a regular poster on this board or you are just one of those posters that like to write stuff like “who” or “championship“ when they find out that Anthony Bennett signed with Houston.

He played for under18 Serbia team, so it's not like he came out of nowhere...

He can definitely ball. On the flip side, this type of asset is perfect to have in your back pocket when negotiating trade deals.

He had a bunch of athletic plays during SL. Interested to see how he plays against NBA bigs.

No one really follows those teams, bar coaches and agents.

I dunno... or they might just think they are going to be capped out/tax payers for a while and this makes the end of the bench cheaper.

I always wondered how he got to the g league in the first place? I mean he played for a 3rd division team in Serbia. Either a scout saw him play or he has a damn good agent.
Has a euro player ever went to the g league at 18 and made it the nba?

The Warriors have been tracking him since he was 16. They see a bright future for him.
