What happens to Chris Paul?

Wanted to create a poll on this just to see what the general consensus is. Keep in mind I want to know what you think will happen and not necessarily what you want to happen.

Just for reference Paul was either at his career low, or worst since 2008 in pretty much every statistical category last season. If he's not moved before the season it's going to only get harder to move him down the line.
“If you're getting stops and you're making threes and the other team's not scoring, that's when you're going to see a huge point difference there,” coach Billy Donovan said.

I cannot see a buyout occurring unless it was for a substantial discount. Since it wouldn't be at full contract value, it cannot be stretch waived, if my understanding of the CBA is correct.

Even a 50% buyout, which neither the Thunder nor Paul are going to agree to, that's $19-22M of dead cap space for each of the next three seasons.

He’s traded this summer. His agent will find a team for him, if I am the Thunder I have no I tested in attaching a draft asset in this deal. The Thunder could keep his entire contract and be just fine.

There are plenty of crap contracts out there and next years FA class stinks.

They paid $150 million in penalties last year for the repeater tax. They are going to be selling considerably less tickets than last year. With total revenue dropping and likely recovering from past expenses, it seems highly likely they'll be in cost cutting mode.

They are only about 3 million over the repeater tax and have to the end of the season to get under the tax or pay 4.5 additional million. While they can do that by getting rid of other contracts, it's not going to be without attaching assets.

Theoretically, they don't need to trade Paul, but realistically, given all the other factors you deal with in keeping Paul (which I noted in a reply to you in the offseason thread), it's highly unlikely they keep him. It's easy to say, "It's only 7.5 million," when it's not your money that you're paying for a team that will finish out of the playoffs, but I doubt the front office feels the same.

The Thunder aren’t paying the tax. If they cut Nader and stretch Patterson they get under. But, they will get under the tax.

It won't be hard to get out of the tax. We have plenty of pieces that can be moved mid season.

Philly could be CP3's trade destination.
Straight up trade for Tobias Harris?

If he isn't traded either this season or during the next offseason, the team is probably stuck with him. His productivity will continue to go down and his contract will keep going up. Unfortunately that is probably what is keeping teams from trading for him right now to begin with.

The Thunder would deal Paul's 3 year $124 deal for Harris 5 year $180.

At the start of next year CP3 at the age of 35 would have 2 years $86 left on his deal.

The 28 year old Harris would have 4 years $150 M remaining on his deal.

The Thunder would be taking on $64 million extra on these contracts.

I think the Thunder would do this deal.
