Those are the right picks though. I’m a Miami Heat fan and I agree with you.

Check out nba.com recent ranking with Durant at #4 (right after Kawhi, Giannis and Lebron too) and Irving #13:

How can you have Durant ahead of Curry and others when he's not even playing next season and we don't know how good he will be when he returns?

Also, most of the time guys are worse after an Achilles tear...

Suggestion : next year polls should be made based on the previous year e.g this poll we would vote who was the best 2018-19 season instead of 2019-20 I think This avoids the KD confusion we have right now

He shouldn't be on the poll at all. It's stupid. I'd like to hear why the people voting for him believe he will be a top 25 player (much less a top 4 player) in 2019-2020, which is the name of the poll.

How about we add Greg Oden "if healthy" to the poll too. He was the better prospect than KD, after all.

As long as Durant stays in the poll I’m going to be voting for him because it’s assuming he’s healthy. He shouldn’t be in the poll if it’s based on a projection of only next season like you say. Look nba.com recently came out with a current top 15 ranking and Durant was #4 after Kawhi, Giannis and Lebron.

Let’s add Jordan and assume he’s healthy and in his prime too.

There’s no point in making this a “2019-20” poll if it’s not limited to guys who will actually play in the NBA in 2019-20.

If this was a retrospective “who was the best player last season” poll, I’d vote KD as #1. But it isn’t.

Voted Curry. He has a lot to prove this season and is my pick for MVP.

Nominate Westbrook.

Note - I object to being able to switch your vote. Invariably people will just change it to whatever the other top 1-2 choice(s). If it's a permanent choice you'll get a better idea of what people's real opinions are. This is an especially salient point the longer this goes because once there's no clear winner, (i.e. several people with 15-20%) being able to change your vote will drastically affect the results.

The thing is though everyone’s gonna vote as soon as they open the poll. If you can’t change your vote, the discussion is 100% meaningless to who people vote for. If you can change your vote, most people will still stay with their initial impulse, but it will it least be possible to affect someone’s vote through discussion.

Good point. After Draymond gets in, I’m nominating Oden.

But the whole point of the exercise is to get the best understanding of what people really think is the hierarchy of best players. Especially since OP only lists the winner and not runners-up it's more meaningful to have the vote be a representation of people's 'initial impulse' while each thread is open. In general the way this works is that you vote then post your rationale, not about discussing and then changing your vote. Let people change their opinions for the next poll - there are 25 of them.

I like being able to change your vote for the same reason I like ranked choice voting - it allows you vote to be meaningful even if you have an outlier opinion.

Vote him #1 with a guy on his own team who scored more on a higher efficiency with a higher PER, BPM, VORP and RPM/PIPM? What was his case over Curry? At 6'11" he even only managed to pull in 1 more rebound a game (and half the offensive boards). His D is good, not great. He just doesn't have Curry's impact on the game. It's why the Warriors generally didn't miss a beat with him out, while they looked/performed like a 45 win team every time Curry was out.
