I don't feel like that's an excuse to have never heard of Mitch Hedberg. Or Jack Handey! Or seen Chris Rock standup. Or have seen Ghostbusters!
On one hand it's super cool to have a wife who hasn't seen ANYTHING pop-culture for just about her entire life because her parents are hella Christian and she just grew up never watching movies or TV. It's kinda fun being able to watch every good movie in history with her and seeing her see it for the first time. On the other-hand imagine living with someone who gets zero of your references. Bull Durham quotes are half my vocabulary.
This is quite coincidental.. I'm 34, my fiance is 24, and we're also getting married in about a month. When she told me she had never seen dumb and dumber I didn't believe her.. So there's been a lot of that. It's definitely fun showing her "new" things. Was a little frustrating at first when I would show her something I loved and it just wouldn't register with her.. but now i just joke about her generation being allergic to sincerity and we move on.
