Yeah, I think this poll should be viewed as the same way they view their’s at NBA.com. That would explain why Durant was placed in this RealGM poll to begin with.

I have Durant as top3 and i'd give it a lot of thought to actually have him current best but i cannot vote for KD when i know he's not going to play this year.

I'm not voting for him in any poll,simply cause he's not playing.If KD is removed from the poll we will have the best 25 players according to the GB,the best 25 players that are going to play next season.Otherwise it's gonna be the best 24 players who will play and KD who's not going to play.

As an extreme example i'm gonna use one Michael Jordan.If this poll was made before the 1993-94 season the obvious Best in the World would be Michael Jordan.He wouldn't be in the poll though cause he was-prematurely-retired and would not play during the season.
Same logic,Durant is not gonna play-so i am not voting for him.
It's not a simple injury.It's an achilles rupture.He is sidelined for a year.

The list is for the 19-20 season. He has a torn Achilles and is out for the season. He shouldn't be on the list.

Gotta be AD. 3rd all-time in PER behind Jordan and LeBron. 4th all-time in playoff PER behind Jordan, LeBron, and Mikan. One of the 5 best defenders in the league. Just entering his prime at 26. And now finally on a team where he can flourish. Closer to #1 than #6 IMO.

The eye test doesn't say he's a winning player. The game is so perimeter oriented these days dominant bigs aren't good enough.

You have to be more skilled than the old school bigs to affect the game as much, but 3 of the top 8 players in the game are centers right now. Sixers were way better than the Raptors with Embiid on the floor. Nuggets were dominant with Jokic in the game in the playoffs and terrible when he sat. Davis is a face-up player who was much improved as a passer last year. There’s nothing about his game that doesn’t fit the modern era.

I agree with the skill comment but disagree about 3/8 best players being centres. The whole problem is that Embiid can't stay on the floor. I could say the same about Greg Oden - it doesn't mean dink. When he can play 38 mpg for a seven game series as the #1 call me. Jokic gets the nod for me as the best big in the game due to his passing and for me he barely would break into the top 10. AD puts up great stats but it doesn't translate to winning. Regardless, bigs simply aren't involved in enough plays while also being in a position to give their teammates better shot opportunities these days. Even on defense it's really easy to get a switch nowadays and have a big man stuck on a guard who will get by them.
