Realistically, the Thunder should just keep Chris. Who better to learn from?

Gordon Hayward could opt out of contract next year. If he plays great I wouldn't mind trying to lure him here again. Doubt he leaves Brad Stevens whos his old college coach though.

Winslow
Butler
Hayward
Olynyk
Bam

That's a top 3 team in the East with a healthy Hayward.

How much you going to pay him to play here? Give me a contract proposal.

If he plays great, he's not going anywhere. But to get him while stock is down

why you didnt like him?

yes as he got old he sucked so that's natural for most players his best years were with miami

He never took the leadership to be the #1 on the team. He would disappear and be such a Beta. Good player but not worth the money he got at the time when we traded PJ and Mash for him.

Eddie on his second stint on the cheap was totally acceptable.

Yikes.

If Mia strikes out with all of the marquee players that they'll surely covet, and even on guys like Buddy Hield should Sac fail in their attempts to extend him, perhaps Hayward should become an option. Personally, I'd rather buy low sooner than pay the premium later like Twix suggests.

I think Riley is playing the long game with Beal.
He has signaled that he wants him. Beal hesitates in his extension.
He’s seen how Miami didn’t give up on Jimmy, he’s heard Wade talking about the Heat, Jimmy...were playing the long game and I think Beal will wait, even if traded somewhere else, to hear from Miami that summer

Eddie's defense was consistently solid, although his offense wasn't. But if you want to describe him as a "beta" surely you wouldn't spare Mashburn from a similar characterization.

Ok I have come to the conclusion that I am glad none of you are running the team.

No to Gordon Hayward
No to waiting till next year
No to tanking

If you can make the team better this year you do it.

Next year you try to improve on this year.

Every year you try to improve.

If PG makes us better this year you do it. Then build next year. It really is not that big of a deal. Someone will always be willing to make a deal.

With SGA and Schroder on the roster already, someone's going to be missing out on minutes at PG. It'll be hard enough to keep 2 of them happy, let alone 3.

Yeah I agree, Riley did tell Jimmy what his plans were to improve the team now and in 2020 and it wouldnt surprise me if Beal was the target in 2020.

I know people think its a pipe dream but I still think the plan is to have Beal, Butler and Giannis in 2021. Which is part of the reason we didnt make a real serious offer for Westbrook and we wont take on Paul unless we get 2-3 FRP's back in return and lose none of the young core.

If we can get to 2021 with Butler under contract, Beal either under contract or committed to play here and still possibly have Bam, Herro and Winslow under contract then we'd be able to make a very strong case to Giannis come here in 2021. With a potential team of,

Winslow (25yo)
Beal (27yo)/Herro(21yo)
Butler(32yo)
Giannis (26yo)
Bam (24yo)

That would be a hard proposition to ignore.

I think Giannis wants to compete for a championship but doesnt want it to be a cop out championship where its 3 of the top 1-10 players on the same team and I'd argure that Beal and Butler would be in like the top 15-20 range at that stage with Butler moving into his 30's. Beal might be slightly higher but if he stays in Washington he will still be hard to rank in the top 10.

I don't know why Beal next off-season is a pipedream. He's only signed through 2021, and I doubt Washington will contend this season, given the injury to Wall. Beal will be 27 next season and looking forward to moving somewhere competitive. Miami seems a good place, and we'll be better financially.

At the trade deadline we have Dragic + Meyers Leonard as expirings in 2020. Olynyk, Waiters, and James Johnson will all be expirings in 2021. We have a 2020 draft pick we can offer to Washington on draft night too. Right now it's tough to trade for Beal, but Washington won't look as good at the trade deadline if they aren't in playoff contention. They'll have the same choice every team faces with free agency. Get something for him now or wait for him to walk in 2021.

All we need to do is (1) win games (2) show improvements with our youth and (3) not purchase a big fat contract like Chris Paul's. If we don't do something stupid, we can reel him in.

Lol at Covington who shot 37.8% from 3 overall on 2.4 of 6.4 threes, meaning he shot like 35% when wide open. I wonder if that is now part of the scouting report?
