Upset no YuTa. They must really like him. They rather risk injury to Brandon Clarke and Ivan Rabb

Ah yes, they'd rather risk injury to their first round pick but not to their 2018 undrafted player who couldn't get off the bench last season.

Just makes sense.

Welp summer league officially ends tomorrow and there is nothing really left to discuss (summer league wise) after, so I guess so I will leave YuTa highlights as my last post in this thread. Hopefully he gets minutes this year. He and Tony Carr I'm rooting for.

They didn't play him because he's not an NBA player.

? I didn't know there was a rule to summer league that he had to be an NBA player to get minutes pass pre-lims

You can't seriously think that MEM didn't play a guy that couldn't get regular season minutes last season because they wanted to keep him healthy for the regular season, but they were not concerned about keeping their first round pick healthy. Do you see the flaw in that logic?

Agreed this logic doesn’t make sense. Maybe they do plan on keeping him, but I don’t think injury risk has anything to do with this.

The fact that he put "lol" at the end of his initial post, made me believe he wasn't being overly serious

Don’t worry. Maybe they don’t like him, and he’ll get cut, and then we can sign him :D

Not a guarantee of success in the NBA, but a good start. He is an elite finisher.

5. Nickeil Alexander-Walker, New Orleans Pelicans PG/SG

Stats through two games: 24.5 points, 7.0 assists, 3.5 rebounds, 2.0 steals, 52.8 field-goal percentage, 46.2 three-point percentage

All eyes were locked on Zion Williamson to start the New Orleans Pelicans' summer league experience. As of July 11, the main storyline has instead been the play of Nickeil Alexander-Walker, the team's third first-round pick who's looked more comfortable and commanding than he did down the stretch for Virginia Tech.

While his scoring numbers stand out first, his facilitating has been the more satisfying development from a projection standpoint. He's delivered a number of high-level passes off the dribble, through crowds off ball screens and off penetration. A first-time viewer would believe they were watching a natural point guard, though signs leading up to summer league pointed to Alexander-Walker settling in as more of a secondary playmaker or combo guard.

His 24.5 points per game have been equally impressive, however. He's executed smoothly as a driver, mid-range shot-maker and pull-up shooter.

He has looked SO good to me.

I think this will be the guy that in 2-3 years posters will say "he's the guy I always wanted. I knew he'd be better than PJ. This was "my" guy" - *even though they'd never mentioned him previously

Rather than hindsight, let's call that phenomenon.........Kawhisight.

Spoiler:
* = Swedd being the exception because he discussed and liked him pre-draft

Oh yeah

I started the NAW love dome

Still not a believer in Clarke, I will eat crow if pans out. Even his highlights from summer league are him getting easy buckets off good setups and he made a few wide open threes.

We will see, but he wasn’t doing anything off the bounce or taking over offensively.

You know what was so disheartening about summer league? We had two actual first team starters play heavy minutes (Bridges, Bacon) and projected rotation guys like Graham and Martin, and we still can't beat the rookie and developmental people of other teams. It's just more of the same. We're going to be really really bad this year.
Who I woulda took:
2022: Duren | 2021: Bouknight, Jones | 2020: Ball | 2019: PJ | 2018: Porter Jr | 2017: Monk | 2016: Damian Jones | 2015: Winslow | 2014: Vonleh, Napier | 2013: McLemore | 2012: MKG | 2011: Knight, Kawhi

No Hornets player dominated the competition.

The teams only hope is to defend, pass well, and make open jumpers.

They’ll have to play offense as a team.
Kulboka off the bench would help things.

Summer league is not about dominating for the older guys. It’s about working on weakness against competition and is a awful barometer of actual talent
