Is now the time to rebrand?

Post#1 » by ThunderBolt » Sat Jul 13, 2019 8:05 pm

The franchise has had the same logo since its inception. I don’t hear many people say they are particularly fond of it. I don’t mind our color scheme but I always by more generic apparel that doesn’t have the OKC basketball logo. It’s probably one of my least favorite logos in the nba. It seems like now is an ideal time to rebrand. Thoughts?

Where is the “logo is irrelevant” option? Didn’t they change the logo last year to match Love’s?!?

No, I don't think they want it to feel like the entire franchise died.

I think you give it a year or so, when are deep in the objectively sucks category of teams, then you roll it out, give fans something to talk about for a bit and be excited about, maybe buy some new gear.

But eventually, they've got to replace this slapdash logo. It's been talked about being the worst in the NBA long enough. Let's have some **** pride here Oklahoma.

I like the cursive jersey, but it needs an accent to go along with the blue. A little too plain otherwise, but that cursive looks pretty cool.

I've never seen an alternative that I actually liked.

Me neither. But, I feel like the jerseys are a good indicator of where we can head with the overall branding. The Statement Edition was a good step. Then last year the City Edition was a massive jump in the right direction.

I posted a couple of links that I liked but if it's a true rebranding then I would imagine it would be something different than what we've seen and not just recycling something we've had before. However, even if we can't get that, I would settle for some tweaking. Our summer league uniforms are better than the regular ones.

I assume they probably won't do anything in terms of rebrand.

Probably only if Presti leaves or the rebuild struggles and they need to do something to reinvigorate the fan base.

If you're going to do it, it also makes sense to wait until you're on the upswing. You don't want to rebrand then have a bobcats situation where your brand is associated with failure.
