Re: Trade for Chris Paul?
Someone else could step in and offer Dre $160 million over 4 years. Not saying anyone will, but I doubt there is any chance we could/will resign him for less than $22-25 million per year.
Realistically if he has his best season next year, there is a chance a desperate team would throw max dollars his way but it would be a big mistake for the team that ends up paying him that contract. Still hasn't won a playoff game in the NBA.

Good luck to them. If Pistons do this I'll happily give up.

Re: Trade for Chris Paul?
So OKC has to give up a pick for the heat to take on this awful deal.
https://sports.yahoo.com/report-chris-paul-trade-miami-121340176.html
“When you talk about him potentially going to the Miami Heat, which is his preference, one thing I’ve been told in the talks; the fact that the Thunder hold the two of the Heat’s first-round picks in the future — unprotected 2021, protected 2023 — makes this a difficult conversation because the Heat want those picks back,” Windhorst said. “The Thunder have expressed an interest in giving one of those picks back but they would want another pick farther off into the future. So I do think that these teams have a lot to talk about.”

And not just any pick, but a Miami pick which is probably going to be a decent pick. I think Miami might even want multiple picks.

Re: Trade for Chris Paul?
Anyone else think the Pistons are just waiting until Tony Snell is eligible to be traded with other players (Aug 20) until they make an offer for CP? If Blake wants to play with CP again I think they make a trade for him.

I've been against trading for CP unless we get picks out of the deal. After hearing what Blake had to say here would he actually be that bad of an acquisition?

sounds like Chris would absolutely hate Dres lack of toughness and Luke's hesitation/nervousness then

What do these numbers represent?
The number of games CP3 has played the last 3 seasons. This doesn't point out the fact that he's also missed some key playoff games as well.

34, 35, 36 - The age CP3 will be during his upcoming contract years.
38, 41, 44 - His salary in millions for each of those years.

Re: Trade for Chris Paul?
If the Pistons somehow end up with paul they are officially the worst combo of owner/exec's in the league and by a wide margin.
Those complaining about westbrook, yeah, have fun with that nightmare.
Jackson would have to be involved so it would be a combination backcourt of the two most injury prone/ridden guards in the league;
Paul/Rose

No I don't but I don't run a NBA franchise and dish out the contracts.El Chivo wrote:Pharaoh wrote:What's his max? Cause if memory serves it's a boatload more than $20 mil & you're gonna end up in self imposed exileEl Chivo wrote:A reasonable offer is 60x3 with a player option in year 3.
If they give Drummond more than 20 mln and more than 3 years I'm officially done as Pistons' fan.

So you think he's a max contract player?
Some team could give him a max. If it's us I'll probably go back to my cave again

We couldn't have gotten WB regardless, HOU traded multiple 1sts, something this org isn't going to do.
But yeah, CP3 would be a bigger nightmare. He's declining.

Not sure this is true. The Rockets had to give up multiple firsts because they were sending back a worse contract then we would have been sending back.
Either way, I'm not really concerned about Chris Paul. Don't think it's happening.

If you trade for Paul, you're saying you're willing to go deep into the luxury tax, or lose players like Dre and Kennard when they become FAs.

If we’re getting an asset or 2 this is a no brainer. Maybe we get lucky for a year or 2 and get a healthy core. I’ll take the chance. Everyone is asking to use cap space to acquire picks, this is how you do it.

Re: Trade for Chris Paul?
Chris Paul is an exceedingly worse contract than Westbrook's. Westbrook is younger and will probably still be pretty good for most of his contract. Paul is looking like he might fall off a cliff this season and his contract looks to be almost identical to Westbrook's. I want us to go get another allstar perimeter player to put next to Griffin but Paul is certainly not it.

Re: Trade for Chris Paul?
For me it's not just about CP3 and what assets he might also bring with him.
It's what his addition could mean in relation to Luke, Brown, Sekou etc
Do we really want him around our young kids?
