There's just no room for washed up big name C's in the rotation.

I would not add any more big men in general, unless one or two get traded first. We do need a 3rd string PG though, and that already closes our roster imo.

Noah should only be brought in if the team is comfortable thinking he can take on tough physical matchups like Embiid and Cousins.

If hes not physically up for it, no point bringing him in. Im sure Noah also wouldnt mind riding the bench and only be deployed strategically or when someone is injured. He's old and doesnt have much left in the tank and time is running out on him winning a ring.

I just don't get that line of thinking, say we manage to get to the Finals and face the 6ers, what's the plan there, take Zubac out of the rotation completely and start Noah? I don't see the point of having Noah out of the rotation for 82 games and letting Mfi rot in the G-League without playing a single minute, just to have a body for the 10 post ups a game Embiid's gonna give you. How much of an advantage over Zu is he gonna give you on those 10 possessions? the guy is old, he can't move laterally and he can't guard the pick'n'roll, so you're gonna bleed points every other possession for a hypothetical marginal gain in (at most) 10 possessions a game against two or three teams.

Sorry to be this blunt, it's not directed at you specifically, I just keep seeing people everywhere suggesting washed up big men like Howard and Noah, and I just don't see the point when we have a decent rotation of big men already. Trez is our main big man anyway, we're talking about a guy that's gonna get just spot minutes if there's an injury, and Mfi should get to be that guy.

Now, if we see mid season that Zubac's not working and our defense is bad because of it, I'm ok with making a trade packaging Zu-Harkless-Robinson to get a real C in his prime, not one of these washed up guys. Their salaries are enough to trade for guys like Adams, Gasol, Ibaka, Favors, Capela, and we are allowed to trade next year's pick.

I’m still boggled that the Clippers didn’t use that 3.5m to go get a backup PG or 3rd string C.

Once they make the PG13 trade and execute all their other deals it shoots em over.

I’m still salty that my boi Lin didn’t get signed for that remaining cap :(

Luxury Tax may have had something to do with it. We're between $4-5M below the tax threshold. Still have 2 spots open. Someone like Harkless could be trade bait around the deadline. A trade could end up bringing in more salary and eventually pushing us over the threshold before the season's end (if we had used the extra $3M+ in cap space). PG and Kawhi are going to have huge salaries moving forward and potentially even greater if they're both re-signed 2 years from now. Trezz is going to be due for a substantial pay raise next summer. We don't need to start the repeater tax clock until absolutely necessary.

Who's available that's worth spending that money on? The buyout market should be considerably better than slim pickings at this point.
