I’m all for it. Think JR can provide great value, and if he can’t I’m sure Bud won’t be afraid to bench him. I think he will fit in well though and we need him still honestly because Matthews isn’t going to give us a good 30 mpg.

Well you could probably say his time in NY was in that way as far as bad attitude. Always seemed like a well liked guy though. And as soon as he got to Cle he was pretty much fine and more focused than he'd ever been, even trying hard and becoming a good defender. Still, he essentially didn't play last year so who knows what you'd be getting. One would actually think you'd get his best effort and behavior since he'd be on a 1 year min show me contract. If he doesn't do well, he's outta the league forever. Does well, he might make another chunk of money. I'd guess he hasn't been the most frugal in saving his money so could probably use one more pay day.

New York gives everyone a bad attitude. I’m sure it was frustrating playing for that organization.

I don't really understand this. His performance is all that matters. We know who our main contributors are. If he performs well then he might be relied on a bit more. If he's not reliable, doesn't play defense and doesn't shoot well he's on the bench. Its about performance.
That's just how it works. Idk what you are worried about.

Already the oldest team in the NBA. Adding JR? Whew. Geriatric team.

I'm iffy on JR. Prone to do very dumb things on the court, huge chucker.

But let's look at some positives

1. Slim pickings for veteran end of the bench guys at this point, I would take him over Korver personally. Korver will be unplayable in the playoffs next season, not sure if that's the same case for JR.
2. Last season was a write off for him. He played in what, 10 games? Not to mention he was playing for a terrible team. Maybe playing for a contender on a prove it deal will light a fire under him.
3. He is not going to break up the locker room, dude is a 34 year old man fighting for his NBA career.
4. Hard to say he is done, 34 isn't ancient for shooters like him.
5. Bud tends to get the most out of players like him.

For a league min deal you're probably not gonna get a better player at this point. It's just scoping him out as best you can on his personality, get the opinions of other players on the team who might know him a bit from having been around the league a while. Guys like Wes, Lopezes, and whoever else, heck Novak could probably give you some info

I can't imagine a veteran player I'd be less interested in having on this team.

I like the idea of having bodies to throw out in the playoffs if people are cold. Imagine having the guys we have plus Jr that can hit a 3 and break a bad stretch.

JR has been underrated his whole career and probably still is, but that doesn't mean he's still good. It's hard to say what he is since he basically sat out last year, but considering he had the worst year of his career the year before that, it's not hard to say he's probably not good.

If OKC goes full on salary saving mode:

OKC trades:
Chris Paul

Receives:
Goran Dragic (19.1 expiring)
DJ Wilson
Donte DiVincenzo
Ersan Ilyasova

Miami trades:
Goran Dragic
Justise Winslow

Receives:
Chris Paul

Milwaukee trades:
Ersan Ilyasova
DJ Wilson
Donte DiVincenzo

Receives:
Justise Winslow

Lopez/Lopez
Giannis/Thanasis
Winslow/Brown
Middleton/Matthews/Connaughton
Bledsoe/Hill

Leaves us thin up front but I’d do it and probably add more.

I mean there is the high possibility that all the options at the 2 guard spot are below average to terrible. That is something to worry about.

It does seem like the Bucks have a fairly positive relationship with Rich Paul. Not happenstance that Anthony Davis listed the Bucks as one of his preferred destinations last winter with no chance of that coming to fruition. Looking at his client list though, I'm not sure what good it really does us at this point. Maybe setting the stage for a Dejounte Murray forced trade to Milwaukee?
