Well, we just upped the weirdness of this offseason again. I dunno what to think about this. He certainly understands the mantra of ‘Let if Fly’. But, man, I am already fearing an utter brickfest game where JR is 1-10, Bled 0-5, and Lopez 1-12 from deep. Giannis shooting 10-19 from the line.

End of the bench guy? Sure? Seems like a bad Bud off-season.

There's no way signing JR Smith doesn't end with us telling him to go away in like December.

It's almost like we learned nothing from the O.J. Mayo debacle.

Don't give them 3/24m contracts? It was Mayo was expected to a big piece and then didn't live up. The drugs weren't the issue. Well they were the issue but wouldn't have been if he was the 12th guy.

Eh. Its not really much of a "dance," actually pretty straightforward. At least for how those open roster spots pertain to the current Bucks. All the sought-after guys are gone. We have two slots left. Our options are limited. Sure, we can debate which minimum salary guy might best fit with our current roster till our faces turn blue. But in the end, we're picking from the scrap heap. There are no "no-brainer" adds right now.

Heck I wouldn't mind giving OJ Mayo a camp invite

JR Smith is guaranteed to provide more comedic value than anyone else we could get.

Not sure how much he has left in the tank but he definitely has incentive to contribute to a winner to avoid this being the last relevant thing he does in his career.

Hasn't even gotten back in the league

Got busted for drugs again in Milwaukee last year, probably moving stuff out of his River Hills house that got foreclosed.

I know, pretty sure he's eligible to apply for reinstatement now correct? Far fateched but if he got reinstated I'd be down for giving him a camp deal to see if he has anything left

Saw the headline and figured I should have an honorary smoke before catching up. The above title, "Lands in MKE," makes it appear as though he has already been signed, as opposed to landed on earth from a plane after being really high, but that's another story. I'm cool with this happening. I think JR has the capacity to make the most of this opportunity. Winning a ring without or even against LeBron would do wonders to heal his famed flakeout moment. JR subbing in on a cold Middleton or Matthews and scoring a quick 7-11 points will happen on more than one occasion if he does indeed sign. Could the Bucks do better than JR Smith at this point? Possibly on a fringe project type, but for this year, JR on a vet min is good. For now. Anybody who thinks the day one roster will be the deadline roster may want to remember how much changed over the course of 5 months last season. Signing JR if nothing else puts us in a position to add him to a future trade.

I seem to remember him as super disappointing in his first season then he was giving effort and playing well in year two (played excellent D in the Bulls series) then his grandma died and he stopped trying and gained a bunch of weight.

If JR = year two Mayo on a minimum salary contract, I'm in.

Being cited for drugs (pot) last year certainly can't help his reinstatement hearing. But, I don't really care about that.

What I do care about is he looked done 3 years ago before he had a 3 year layoff from the NBA

That and the stories I heard about his locker room entourage (Bucks had to ban them) are something I'd rather move on from and not revisit. Have no idea why Lasry's had such a soft spot (honoring him at the last Bradley Center game was a joke) for a guy who brought little to the table and was an active detriment to the team.

Agree to disagree on this one, all I said was a camp invite, to see if he had anything left in the tank.

Can you even get a camp invite when you're still banned from the league? And yes I know he can apply for reinstatement but even if he does that now, that's still going to take time and by the time they decide we're probably in training camp already and he hasn't been a decent offensive player since 2012-13. So no, just totally pass on Mayo.

Foresight is strange.

This morning I woke up wanting to make a "Wait untli OJ Mayo gets back" joke and now here we are.
