I mean.....I guess? The guy's biggest flaw throughout his career has been motivation/effort, so I don't know exactly how motivated he's gonna be as the 4th-5th bench wing and regularly collecting DNP-CD's. A+ grade for the lulz factor but between this and AntentokounBros, this is a very underwhelming use of roster spots. If an injury hits either Bledsoe or Hill then we're in big trouble.

Nothing has officially happened yet, right? The thread title is throwing me off and there have been a few posts referring to this like it's a done deal.

For god’s sake, don’t bring that jack-ss JR Smith into the locker room. You’re better off not having dudes like that on your team for culture reasons. It’s like having another Larry Sanders or OJ Mayo. Players like Nick Young & JR are to be avoided.

If Smith still has the physical ability to defend and the willingness to do so, then fine if for the vet minimum so that he can be waived with ease at the first sign of any problems.

Those guys have been in two of the past three championship locker rooms. JR played major minutes for a team that went to three straight Finals.. :noway:

I guess I don’t understand why so many people are so down on this idea. We can sign someone who 99% won’t give us anything, or sign J.R. who still might be able to contribute. If he really is that much of a cancer, which I don’t think he is, we can just easily waive him. Just don’t see how this can be bad.

It’d be a shame to see him get away. He showed a lot of promise. Very composed and played with great pace. Good shooter as well. :(

Nick Young won a ring with the Warriors last year…He’s been credited as the guy that kept that locker room from going at each other. Sometimes you need someone to lighten the room a bit. I’m not saying JR Smith is that guy, but who knows.

JR was one of the best high volume 3pt shooters in the league as recently as a couple seasons ago (40% on 6.6 attempts). With it being an end of the roster spot, you're not sacrificing much to take the chance to see if his shooting slump last year (30% on 3.5 attempts) was an outlier. Guys who can come in and hit 5 threes are what swings games. SVG once said on the Lowe Post that the Al Horford type shooters who can hit 38% on a few attempts are alright, but what you really have to worry about is the guy with the quick release who'll take every shot he can get, and get hot and hit 6 of them.

That shooting era might be done for JR, but for a minimum bench slot and not a long term Delly-type signing, it's hardly anything to get angry about. And the locker room issues are really overstated. JR's not a bad guy, just an idiot.

I won’t wear the rose colored glasses. If acknowledging a garbage offseason and the potential for a let down makes me doom and gloom then go ahead and call me Eeyore. If anyone suggested JR Smith for any role whatsoever for any kind of salary last year they’d be laughed off the board. Now that it’s looking like it may happen people are loving it. I don’t get it.

Bucks have the second best Vegas odds to win the NBA championship this season after the offseason moves.

You may not like some moves, but, to call this offseason garbage is not accurate

JR Smith will be fine. The Bucks have a strong culture, if he's a problem, he'll be gone.

Eeyore

and also, If JR came on the vet min last year I am sure people would have been fine with it. At his contract amount last year? Not so much.

Not a fan of JR- a strong no. It cannot end well and we all know that. He will be grumbling about PT at some point.

Also not a big fan of Elijah Bryant- he got stripped of the ball a lot in summer league. Very weak handle.

I'm pretty sure the Bucks will let him know he will not be getting many minutes. Also, he can play the games we rest guys. He wants a shot to get to the finals again the Bucks are his best bet.
