I'm hoping tickets go down on Stubhub between now and August 31, because yeah...if that happens, I'd rather not miss it.

I refuse to financially subsidize a garbage product. If they fix the main roster, then I'll consider paying for the network again and thereby NXT also.

Until then no dice!

Got a chance to see a few matches from this last show. They need to make huuuuuge changes before they get to TV. Continuing to put on big budget Indy shows is just not gonna work.

I don't pay for the Network and still watch the Takeovers.

I guess pro wrestling isn't for people like me anymore. I couldn't care less about watching Takeovers just to see "great matches".

To me, "great matches" are the result of great characters, feuds, and storylines. What actually happens in the ring is not all that important in comparison. And in a vacuum it is almost meaningless.

The current indy "workrate" inspired Meltzer rating method of determining pro wrestling quality is completely foreign to me.

THIS. If their plan is to attract back the tens of millions of lapsed former wrestling fans, they will absolutely fail if they just put on a indy style show with modern production values.

Casuals couldn't care less about "workrate". All these flipz and movez only make things look more fake and make it harder to suspend disbelief.

Agreed 100%

What era did you grow up on and who are some of your favorite wrestlers and feuds of all-time?

My favorite feud of all time was Austin and Hitman. Chemistry defined both in the ring and on the mic. Their first match was a classic and most of the offense was a damn wrist-lock.

I started watching right before WrestleMania III in 1987 when I was a little kid. First feuds I remember are Hogan/Andre and Savage/Steamboat.

Favorite wrestlers (no particular order except #1):

1) "Macho Man" Randy Savage
2) Ultimate Warrior
3) "Million Dollar Man" Ted DiBiase
4) Hulk Hogan
5) Andre The Giant
6) "Mr. Perfect" Curt Hennig
7) Bret "Hitman" Hart
8) Sid Justice
9) Undertaker
10) Ric Flair
11) Jake "The Snake" Roberts
12) Ravishing Rick Rude
13) Stone Cold Steve Austin
14) The Rock
15) Kurt Angle
16) Shawn Michaels
17) Demolition
18) Brock Lesnar
19) John Cena (heel)
20) CM Punk
21) Daniel Bryan
22) Chris Jericho
23) Sting
24) Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat
25) Rowdy Roddy Piper
26) Sgt. Slaughter (heel)
27) Razor Ramon
28) "Big Poppa Pump" Scott Steiner
29) Booker T
30) Mark Henry (Hall of Pain)
31) Honky Tonk Man
32) Edge (heel)

Also a shoutout to all-time great outside the ring characters (again no order except #1).

1) Bobby "The Brain" Heenan
2) Jesse "The Body" Venura
3) Gorilla Monsoon
4) Jim Ross
5) Jerry "The King" Lawler
6) Mean Gene Okerlund
7) Sean Mooney
8) Todd Pettingill
9) Tony Schiavone
10) "Mouth of the South" Jimmy Hart
11) "The Doctor of Style" Slick
12) Brother Love
13) Jim Cornette
14) Mr. Fuji

Favorite feuds/rivalries (again no order except #1 and #2):

1) Hogan/Savage - WM5
2) Savage/Warrior - WM7
3) Austin/Hart - SS96 to WM13
4) Hogan/Warrior - WM6
5) Austin/McMahon - post WM14
6) Savage/Roberts - Fall 1991
7) Savage/Flair - WM8
8) Bryan/Authority - WM30
9) Austin/Rock - WM17
10) Hart/Lawler - SS93 to SS95
11) Hart/Hart - WM10 to SS94
12) Hart/Michaels - SS92 to SS97

As you can see, heavy heavy bias towards the late 80's and early 90's. Younger people might say its nostalgia talking, but I just think wrestling was better back then. SO MANY iconic characters and storylines that you just don't see today.

I agree with both of you guys I think we're all around the same age I don't think anything is gonna top
the 80's and 90's for along time if ever.

Everything was almost done perfectly... You had GOAT announcers in Vince, Gorilla, Bobby, Jesse etc you had a
GOAT backstage interviewer in Mean Gene, you had a GOAT ring announcer in Howard Finkel. You had a GOAT belt
with the Eagle belt hell you even had a GOAT company logo and ring.

The booking was fantastic and almost everyone was a legend with so many legendary feuds and matches.
I remember during the Cena era I was like I can't wait till this is over and here we are now in the Becky/Roman/Seth
and New Day Era and it's just as bad if not worse.

This decade has been a complete write off and early signs are showing that AEW is gonna be a long ways away
to what we want it to be. I will say that NXT has been the lone bright spot outside of NJPW and Lucha Underground
this decade and HHH has shown that he's a good booker and can make stars.

It just sucks knowing nothing will change until Vince is out of the picture and AEW dials down on the cos-play Indy sh*t.

We should start a thread talking about old wrestling because I rather watch and talk about old stuff then
the current stuff.

Agree ONE MILLION PERCENT. Need another thread to discuss when wrestling was amazing.

Also can't believe I forgot to list GOATs like Howard Finkel and announcer Vince McMahon ("what a maneuver!"). Thanks for mentioning them.

Also add my man Jack "on the take" Tunney to the list lol.

The main problem with WWE is that, while they call everyone superstars, very few people actually feel like superstars because WWE has booked everyone into oblivion trying to push Cena and then Reigns these past ten to fifteen years. Most of the roster are jags. That's not to say there aren't plenty of guys with star potential. Those guys are there. WWE just doesn't book them like stars.

It also doesn't help how often they've fought the crowd the past half-decade, actively going against their wishes and pushing guys no one wanted to see at the top of the company like Reigns and Mahal. That's what has turned a lot of us off to the product, after all. Why bother watching if you know the guys you like best are never even going to be given a chance so guys who suck can hold top titles for horrifically boring stretches of time? See also: girls who suck and have no business even being on the main roster like Nia and Tamina.

Or how they keep putting the top belt on Lesnar only for him to disappear with it for months at a time, which devalues the title and makes it feel unimportant, especially when Brock comes back only to put on one of his snoozers because he doesn't feel like trying that night (at this point, Brock is good for about two great matches a year and he clearly couldn't give less of a sh*t about the rest).

But ultimately I think the problem is that very few people ever get to feel like actual stars. There's so little passion any more. There's rarely heated fights. There's rarely run-ins where a guy feuding with someone comes out to beat his rival up or cost him a match, although that's mostly because, when two guys are feuding, they only ever wrestle each other for months at a time, which ensures the audience doesn't give a good god damn by the third straight PPV match between the two.

That's why, when we do see those brief glimpses of passion, like when Becky snapped, the crowd eats it up. There should be crap like that happening damn near every week! Raw during the Attitude Era was electric because crazy sh*t happened all the f*cking time. Nowadays, every episode of Raw is a three hour death march where you know almost nothing of consequence is going to happen. If you're lucky, you might get a couple of three star matches, but you can be damn sure that very little cool stuff is about to go down, and you can be equally certain that guys in the mid and lower cards will never be involved in it.

I will plan on being there - at the CapitalOne Arena where the Caps and Wizards play - right off the subway. Should be tons of fun - including riding the Metro home with rasslin fans.

I'm surprised you guys haven't had a WM yet I know the District has had a lot of big PPVs over the decades have
you been to any big shows? I'm getting tired of WM in Central Florida and New Orleans every other year.

no surprise there given that her boyfriend is also courted by them and will probably end up there at some point.
