I’m anxious to find this out as well. I suspect it’s a second round type of asset.

Charlotte Hornets President of Basketball Operations & General Manager Mitch Kupchak announced today the team has acquired guard Terry Rozier and a protected 2020 second-round draft pick from the Boston Celtics in exchange for guard Kemba Walker and a 2020 second-round draft pick as part of a sign-and-trade agreement between the two teams.

Honestly kind of tired of repeating that. It's like in 3 places in this thread.
My picks:
2020 Draft (3rd pick) - Tyrese Haliburton, Devin Vassell, or Onyeka Okongwu
2021 Draft (11th pick) - Moses Moody

So they’ll likely get our 2nd round pick next year but we won’t get theirs?

Phew. Not going to lie: I was legitimately worried it was going to be much, much worse for us.

They did us a favour by agreeing to the S&T because we didn’t have the cap space to outbid other teams for him.

(Assuming other teams would have offered him more than around $9.5mil next season).

don't really understand having to give BOS a 2nd, Kemba literally 10X better than Rozier

Boston release has it as "the least favorable of Brooklyn and New York’s 2020 picks," which is what we're getting for flipping Mozgov for Biz so... not a big loss.

The Cavs 2nd we have next year is the valuable one.

Kupchak said Rozier would be a lottery pick this year, whatever that means. I guess he's shown about as much as most of our lottery picks.

When you consider we lost Kemba because of the Dwight Howard trade, that brought Mozgov, that brought Biz and the pick then it it a big deal.

The butterfly effect of trading for Miles Plumlee’s cost us Kemba Walker.

Cool so we’re trading the Nets 2nd for Boston’s 2nd. Could end up being a gain if the Nets are better than the Celtics nice

Hasn't really been reported yet, but I doubt Boston would agree to a scenario where they give up the higher pick. The Boston pick is vaguely protected but my guess is this will effectively be a pick swap at Boston's discretion. If Brooklyn has a better record then no swap.

It's a really nice deal for a starter's bird rights.

As opposed to losing Kemba with nothing in return. Boston did Charlotte a solid by including Rozier in a S&T because otherwise they wouldn’t have had the cap space to acquire Rozier. That’s why Charlotte had to give Boston a 2nd.

Comes in a bit lower than expected but... called it.

Read on Twitter
BlackOutBuzz wrote:Bit of speculating here, but I wonder if the Rozier deal is of the declining nature.

When you take Kemba's salary of $32.7M ÷ 2 (BYC) you get roughly $16.35M, so the max incoming value from a trade would be about $20.5M (125% + $100k). Assuming the declining scale with standard 5% decreases you're looking at annual values of:

$20.5M
$19.475M
$18.45M

For a total of 3 years/$58.425M. May be wrong and this is a coincidence, but I really wasn't expecting to get that close to $58M when punching in those numbers. It would also explain how they arrived at that specific amount.

If it's truly dead on $58M than a declining scale may look like this:

$20.35M
$19.33M
$18.32M

So close.

Not bad at all. Good call. Really only that 17.9M matters since we aren't signing anyone next offseason

Good work dude! It also makes the contract much easier to swallow. It was him or nothing this year due to cap so the 20 million up front is irrelevant. Next years class is shallow and we may still have a clogged cap so I can live with the 19. Only that last year makes any difference to our ability to make moves and an under 18 million expiring for a 27 year old starting PG may actually be an asset. Who knows maybe he looks great playing for us anyway.

I just realized that the name Rozier is of French origin and have suddenly became worried. Well, if he's as bad and overpaid as Batum, then the tank should go very well.

The pronunciation didn't give it away?

Anyway, we're bound to get lucky with a French player eventually right? It would be well deserved by us Hornets fans if we get Maledon or Hayes next year and they turn out to he great.

Hey guys off the jump I'll just say I'm a big Terry Rozier fan(hence the username). But that doesnt affect what im about to say this is just honest:

1) The Big Red Dog can play man. Stud on the ball defender. Offensively he's not the pretzel flavored M&M's or anything but he's not just some bland overrated manufactured sugar like Mike & Ikes either. This is a guy who plays defense with the Intensity of Ten Cities.

2) I saw someone mention theyd rather have guys who are practically out of the league like Emanuela Mudiay and Elfrid Payton.... okay man... that reminded me of this kid growing up who said Joe Kleine was better than Rony Seikaly. Don't be afraid of the man just because he's good looking.

3) Did anyone miss the Eastern Conference playoffs the year before last? The guy put the team on his back on multiple occasions. When the playoffs start you need a guy who can defend his position, get tough like nuggets when you overcook 'em, rebound, play in the halfcourt, and won't get rattled by a purple shirt guy, Drake, or Malcolm X in the front row. Some guys are in the Dawg Pound and other Dogs get buried in the Ground. There's a bunch of movies about Dogs. K-9 Cop, Milo & Otis, and All Dawgs go to Heaven. But this isn't a movie. This ain't that fellas. When the tide goes out you see who aint got no swimming trunks on. When the postseason rolls up Terrry ain't gonna run 'n hide Terry will be there baby. Terry aint Scared.

4) Last but not least. Down the stretch of big games I need you to chant. Whether its at the game, uptown, or at home watching the game. I wanna hear you. Let me hear the cannons.

BIG RED DOG. BIG RED DOG. BIG RED DOG.

Let's get it.
