RealGM Top 25 Player Poll-#8 2019-20

Post#1 » by Filthadelphia » Sun Jul 21, 2019 2:32 am

Your favorite offseason debate is back by popular demand!
Thanks to everyone who voted last go around Im excited to see where the 2nd annual edition ends up.

Here's the Rules:
-Vote ONE player per poll. You'll be able to change your vote just like last year for those indecisive folks.
-The criteria of ranking the players is YOUR OWN. The whole point of bringing this to the GB is to attract the widest amount of votes/perspectives on the game as possible to form a true consensus. Some people value shooting over defense, team success over indivdual prowess etc. I want to bake all that in to this poll set no matter how chaotic.
-Each poll a player will win and then be taken out of the field. There will be 25 polls in all.
-There are only 10 possible poll options so I will start with the 10 guys who I personally believe will round out the top 10 in most people's eyes.
-As each poll commences I ask you to COMMENT IN THE THREAD your vote for who should be added in the next poll. There will be a large list of players yet to be added to the field below that you can look over to make your vote. I will tally up the votes in the comments at the end of each poll and add the winner accordingly. For example, if you want Marc Gasol added in the next poll just comment "Marc Gasol" or "Gasol".
-If a poll is overwhelmingly skewed towards one guy I will try, time willing, to edit it early and move on to the next one.
-If there is a tie in the poll. There will be a run-off poll created with just the tying parties to determine a winner. The losers of the runoff will then be added back into the field of 10 for the next poll.
-Feel free to ask any questions via pm or comment
-Feel Free to comment on your reasoning for a pick and why

THANKS AGAIN TO EVERYONE FOR PARTICIPATING!!!!

Should have been Embiid already- that’s my vote.

I nominate Oladipo.

Vote: Durant (George next)
Nominate: Bradley Beal

I think Durant was included in the poll, because it’s not based on predicted 2019-2020 performance, but instead on how we would rank the top 25 players in the NBA at the start of the 2019-2020 season. But I’m not sure everybody can see the difference with that. With injured players the best we can do is predict how they will play when they return. It kind of helps to think about it as free agency and what order you would sign them.

By the way, if Durant recovers quickly he can possibly start playing as early as February (Kobe returned in 240 days = 8 months) from what I’m hearing. And everybody I’ve seen talk about Durant’s recovery, predicts that after he returns he won’t be affected as much as some other players. This is due to the style Durant’s plays basketball, his conditioning prior to the injury, work ethic, etc

Voted George (3rd in MVP last year)
Nominate Kemba

Don't get why there are votes for Durant if this is a 2019-20 poll and he isn't playing at all next year

I'm imagining that neither Kevin Durant nor Greg Oden got hurt. They're my next two picks. Although there is this other dude - Clayton McKenzie. Born in 1991, when this kid was 3 years old, you could tell he absolutely had it. Smooth jumper, was already dunking on a little plastic mini-hoop...you name it, he could do it. Tragic accident, he's been in a coma for the past 25 years, but I'm telling you, he would be in his prime right now and if he isn't voted into at least the Top 15, this whole poll is a sham.

Clayton sounds like a baller, looks like I'm gonna have to nominate him after Kemba, heck maybe even my nomination vote should be switched

Voted for Lillard. Too many people sleep on Dame.

I think KD should be removed from the poll, it's getting weird at this point.

I remember there once were big arguments around who was better Jokic or KAT. Now Jokic is selected 7th before KAT even made it on the poll.

How the hell did Anthony Davis go #6. Jokic and Embiid are both better. Laker fans are literally the pests of the NBA.

The only reason Kevin Durant is not officially shutdown for upcoming season is because Nets want to sell more tickets and jerseys using his uncertain status. No way anyone will risk or push anything with superstar on 4 year contract because single month of his play. And if Nets learned anything in this decade is to be patient. And even if he play 10-15 games at the end of the season, is that really enough to qualify for anything about 2019-20 season? I know George will miss about 15 games at the start of the season, and that will be the only reason I will vote for Lillard on next #9 poll instead of George, because even 15 missed games is something you can't ignore.

Vote: Embiid
Nominated: Kemba
