Welcome Kostas Antetokounmpo

Post#1 » by LakersSoul » Sun Jul 21, 2019 11:29 pm

Giannis’ younger brother was waived by Dallas and the Lakers add him to our 2-Way contract.

6’10” forward with long arms and some blocks/defense to him. On offense, he attacks the rim.

Good prospect at 21 years old but great in multiple levels:

Kidd
Kostas

How did they not have room for him on the Mavs?

Mavs dropping Kostas is simply an indication that they’re bowing out on the Giannis 2021 race. They’re committed to Porzingis and Doncic, and they have assembled a nice young core no need to lock up space for a player that’s not as developed as others on their roster.
Ostensibly Kostas’ most meaningful contribution is being a gateway to indirectly recruit Giannis. In other words Kostas is the KCP to LeBron.

I can’t see this as anything more than a long term play with an eye towards Giannis in 2021. Establish a relationship with the family years ahead of time.

I kinda like him while watching the highlights. He's tall, long and strong and very agile for his size. If he end up like Giannis then we are in a good position in the future.

I don't know many who have seen this guy mentioned they really haven't seen any improvements from his first year, hence Dallas pulling the trigger. Well being 21 and having that family name doesn't help on the pressure as well.

Project and a Giannis link. Win-win for me.

Just a tiny bit related to this topic but I remember when we traded for Pau Gasol back in the day and included Marc Gasol, who was just a prospect at the time lol.

There is an upside that Kostas turns out to be really good, so this is a great pick up.

Think KCP being at the Lakers helped recruit Lebron? Are you a Skip Bayless burner?

195 lbs at the draft combine a year ago. He needs to get to 220 at least to be an NBA player. I hope he gets there in the next year. Could be a hell of a defensive player.

Good. Now we just need to find a way to get the 4th Antetokounmpo brother, the little one. He's the key since Giannis is the closest to him, took him under his wing. He should be eligible in 2020, right on time. :D

For me, this is a Giannis play in the near future.

A guy who can't shoot can't play next to Bron, but he will be very useful for the recruiting of his brother.
