Atlanta will be better and a dark horse for the 8th seed but they aren't going to be better than Boston

ATL could be something in one or two years, but now? I like Trae Young, but it seems like a lot to put on his shoulders this early in the game for him.

As said before, Horford was the only true big loss (already miss ya man). Hayward could come back actually healthy; not saying he'll be his Utah self but surely better than last year. Then of course Tatum/Brown could improve a little. Not even including rookies like Carson Edwards. And of course, Kemba while not better than Kyrie will supposedly be less of a lockerroom headache, we'll see if that matters but it SOUNDS refreshing on the surface.

Basically, OP's seems to be counting on the Celtics completely crashing and burning, which I find unlikely.

The better question is who has more wins this season ATL or BROOKLYN. Answer - ATL (of course). I will be very surprised if the Nets make the playoffs this year (or next). Kyrie is a one-man wrecking ball that destroys locker rooms.
Boston is going to be fun to watch this year. No, they won't win it all, but they are going to make some noise in the playoffs, and the young guys should make some nice leaps forward.
Atlanta should also be a fun team to watch this year (very likely getting a playoff seeding).
Brooklyn will most likely be a FUNNY team to watch this year.

Better questions that should have been asked.

- Better young core?
- Better long-term future?
- Better offseason?

All of which I would have chose Atlanta, but this is a silly question as constructed.

Atlanta was 18-24 the second half of last year and Trae Yooung was a better post-ASB player then Kemba was. Young quietly was a 25/9/5 player on 45/35/88 sshooting. he basically gives you all the scoring and shooting of kemba with a ton more playmaking and thats just as a rookie.

Trae Young is also the worst defensive point guard in the league. Funny how you glossed over that one.

Its creepy. Very creepy

At what point does this become trolling? These are starting to pile up and are getting more far fetched. His main arguement was Atlanta having a improved but still sub 500 record the second half of the year....... :noway:

OP, just start the thread that you're afraid to get the answer for - "Better in '19-'20: Nets or Celtics".

I think Boston will be good. Their loss of Hortford hurts, but Kemba will end up being a net positive for them in comparison to Kyrie imo. I think team chemistry will be WAY better this season now that Kyrie took his bad atitude elsewhere. I also think Hayward has a big year.

ATL is still young... They were actually a dangerous team last year for anyone who actually watched them play. They're still young though... they make a lot of the little mistakes, and can't seem to hold leads, etc... They're probably still in trial by fire stage. Exciting young team though.

The real question... This board is gonna have a laughing fit if Boston finishes better than BKY. I'd pick Boston over the Nets personally.

Nearly every media personality/neutral fan around the league has Boston above Nets next year, so why would that be a surprise?

Hawks should improve on their win total next season. They drafted some interesting talent as well and may be a good team a couple years down the road. Maybe they compete for the 8th seed and make it interesting.

I expect the Celtics to finish as the 4th or 5th seed next season. They will win more games than the Hawks barring something unexpected happens.

Rozier, Morris, and Baynes were not “huge losses”. Rozier was a 3rd string PG putting up a 12.9 PER while sowing discontent in the locker room. Baynes was a backup big who played 800 minutes and will be easily replaced by Kanter who could thrive under Stevens. Morris is the one they’ll miss most and even he was a below average rotation PF by RPM.

they are huge losses because it is basically the entire bench and the entire front court when you add horford. you just cant lose all your depth after downgrading one of your best players and not have massive issues. celtics cant sustain an injury right now and really are going to get obliterated up front.

Kanter? lol he is one of the worst defensive bigs out there. Horford/Baynes were huge in goign up against guys like embiid. Kanter cant gaurd anyone

Saying Trae was better than Kemba in second half is ridiculous since Trae was probably the worst defensive player in the league. He’d have to be literally James Harden on offense to be as good as Kemba playing D that portly. He’s got a ways to go to even be as good as Marcus Smart as an overall player.

it isnt riddiculous, he was better across the board and that is as a rookie. bringing up his defense is kind of silly since kemba is a bad defender as well and in general PG defense doesnt have much value

BOS is still better since Kemba is the best player on either team but ATL is on the rise.

I still think there are 4 teams easily better than BOS. PHI, MIL, BK, and INDY. BOS is in that next group with TOR, BOS, MIA, ORL, DET. Then your up and comers ATL, CHI.
