damn I remember I was the optimist around here... The Rozier acquisition dropped my prediction from 25 to below 20... I think we're going 17-65. ****'s gonna be miserable

13. I pray I’m wrong. Saw Vegas has us at 23.5. One injury though will shatter that. This team has no proven scorers. I love our young guys though. Hopefully they will step up.

Hard to say i guess it depends on who all we play... feels like a 24-28 game winner to me... ill go with 25-57

Guys who will pull us towards .500 are Rozier, Marv, and Zeller.... the guys that will pull us towards 10 wins are Monk, Washington, Bacon, biyombo, billy goats gruff, and Graham... Batum, MKG, Bridges, etc kinda pull us towards that 25 win team...

What makes it tough is that the team literally demonstrates ZERO upside and we cant count on them to package these expiring deals for Brad Beal or someone which would get us back on track to building towards something.

I feel like if they focus on moving these expiring deals over the next two years like Biyombo, Marv, MKG, Zeller, and Batum we can package our picks and young guys like Washington and Bridges to put together a decent roster. I think thats a better strategy than trying to build through the draft since we arent capable of picking good players anyway and the draft system doenst really reward tanking anymore.

ESPN has Hornets as the 2nd worst team

29. Charlotte Hornets
2018-19 record: 39-43
2020 title odds: 1000-1
Previous rank: No. 26

The Hornets will enter the 2019-20 season absent their top two win-shares leaders from last season and largely the same nucleus of league-replacement frontcourt talent whose contracts, one day, will expire. Depending on your appraisal of Terry Rozier, the bees either have a respectable young replacement for Kemba Walker at point guard or have once again forked over a contract of excessive value and length to a player without the body of work to justify it. Perhaps Charlotte can get a breakout season from one of its prospects: the tantalizing and sometimes confounding Malik Monk, or the promising forwards plucked in the past two drafts: Miles Bridges and PJ Washington. -- Arnovitz

Oh ok. I can see it. Overall their team has less talent than us. However I like Sexton more than every player on our team and see him as a star caliber player in a few years.

Sexton sucks. The Cavs suck too, but per NBA rules, they'll get the top pick next year. The Cavs and ratbirds have to get it at least once every six or seven years.

Looking at where things stand against the other teams next season, the Hornets finished with the 12th worst point differential (-1.1), tied with the Kings.

The teams that finished below from worst to better are the Cavaliers (-9.6), Suns (-9.3), Knicks (-9.2), Bulls (-8.5), Hawks (-6.1), Wizards (-2.9), Grizzlies (-2.6), Lakers (-1.7), Timberwolves (-1.5), Pelicans (-1.4), and Mavericks (-1.2).

Out of those teams the Lakers, Pelicans, and Mavericks are definitely better. While the Bulls, Hawks, and Timberwolves are likely better. Out the teams that finished above the Hornets only the Thunder got significantly worse. They were a +3.4 though and replaced Westbrook with Paul and SGA and George with Gallinari. They'll be worse, but not in our ballpark.

That leaves the Hornets competing with the Cavs, Suns, Knicks, Wizards, and Grizzlies in the bottom 6. That's not a bad place to be considering the flattened lottery odds. The only teams in that group that might try their best to win are the Suns, Knicks, Grizzlies and likely us. So I think the team will finish the season with the 4th or 5th worst record, and last season the range for those teams was between 22 and 29 wins.

Comparing this roster to some teams from last season, I think we've got more talent than that New York team (17 wins) but not quite as much as that Atlanta team (29 wins). I've got us somewhere between 22-26 wins. 24 to really narrow it down.

But nothing would surprise me with this team, the lolcats are still in our DNA so winning less than 20 games is always in play. On the flipside if we get playoff starter Rozier, PJ has a strong rookie season, Monk levels ups, etc… than exceeding 26 wins is totally in the cards.

Ultimately, I don’t care about win totals as long as we don’t completely humiliate ourselves with like 10 wins or something. I just want to see our young players look good this season, the Rozier contract to not look like a disaster and to get a stud in next year’s draft.
