People forget young players develop over time. I think he’ll have a better season, especially being the #1 option. Granted, yes, there’s not many clear options besides him, so he’ll get the majority of the shots. I think he’ll average 21-24 ppg - 9 rpg - 3-5 apg.MapleMamba wrote:He turning 24, let's see if he keeps getting better still? The EC is still weak, so who knows. Fizdale gives mins to players, who earn it. People can stop with each players going to get so many minutes bull crap.

He's going to put up numbers in a big market. He will get a lot of consideration for sure. Especially if the Knicks start to overachieve. I'm pulling for him.

Re: Could Julius Randle be an all star this year?
d'angelo russell, vucevic and middleton brought up the rear of the east allstars last year, he def can beat out the remaining two since russell moves west and kd wont be appearing in the game this upcoming season, jsut has to play at last years level and since he has his new deal he may be motivated to go up a notch higher than that for the MSG faithful

Being an all-star in the East is like dating the hottest girl at an all-boys school.

And yet if your team was on the East, you wouldn't mind if a player on your team was named an all-star.

If he has numbers and the Knicks have a decent record, most likely.
Without the wins, it's unlikely.

...well he avg'd 21/9 last year, so you're not really going out on a limb there.
but yes, averaging that in the East and playing for the Knicks would for sure put him in the all-star game.
You think he’s getting voted in?
I’ll be shocked if they win 10 games by Christmas.

Middleton is probably better than you think--I'd expect an efficient 20/5/5 from him this year, he's been around there recently and should pick up a little more slack from Brogdon dippin'. Also T Harris (whom I don't love) is probably going to average around 22/8 on pretty good efficiency, and his team will be much better; not sure why Randle averaging 22/8 on a bad team would nudge him over. I guess I could see it if the team has a hot start and Randle's the only one putting up big #s, just wouldn't bet on it.
Also maybe the best reference for Randle is Vucevic, who averaged 20/10, 18/9, etc in multiple years before the AS break before finally making an AS game when he averaged an efficient 22/12/4 on a pretty good team.

Gee I wonder is Pascal Siakam might be an allstar candidate this year for some reason. Nah.

Re: Could Julius Randle be an all star this year?
Jules is my guy but I just don't see it happening. I put him on the same tier as Lamar Odom. Not that their games are similar, but they both had the talent of a guy just below the border of an all-star.
Odom had the talent, skills and all the physical gifts (that's why they called him "the goods") but just didn't have it upstairs. Jules has that dog in him but he has physical limitations. His hands are average for a big and he doesn't have the wingspan to make up for the height he gives up.
I think Randle's ceiling is just on the cusp of all-star but never actually getting over that. He's focused on scoring and not enough on all the little things.

Odom wasn't close to the player Randle is, not a fair comparison. Odom is a player that had plenty of chances to prove himself in the league only to disappoint time and time again. He showed flashes but always left you wanting more. Randle got injured his rookie season..ppl/fans forgot about him. Had to slowly work his way back up and prove himself again. It wasn't until his last season w/ the lakers he got to show how good/valuable he is. Randle has steadily improved every year since he got into the league.
Sure, Randle has 'physical limitations" for a 4/5 mainly on the defensive side but he's a physical beast and very skilled for a guy his size. Basically identical size to Ben Simmons(Randle 6'9 w/7 ft wingspan)(Simmons 6'9 3/4" w/7ft wingspan) Not many guys in the league can handle the ball pass like he can and then also bang down low score crash the boards. He's far from a one dimensional scorer he has multi skillset akin draymond which is so important in the modern nba.
Randle 30 mpg avg 21 9 3 w/ 21 per for the pelicans last season as a 23 yr old that is all star level production. Unless he just stops improving at 24 yrs of age, I'd say he has good chance to be an allstar on the east.

I think his numbers need to be better than last year (even marginally) and the Knicks need to overachieve a bit.

yes, the East sucks.
which forwards are getting in after Giannis?
A number of them. Let's just take a look at some EC teams. I'll start alphabetically.
Atlanta: John Collins has as good of a chance as Julius Randle. I don't see him making since I expect Trae Young to get all the credit if Atlanta does well and challenges for a playoff spot but number-wise he can definitely be a 20/10 guy. He was a 20/10 guy last year.
Boston: Tatum has a great chance, especially if Boston has a good enough record to warrant two All-Stars. Perhaps Hayward if he gets back to his Utah self? Unlikely but who knows?
Brooklyn: KD won't play this season so he is out (at least, I hope so, players that are out for the season shouldn't be voted in) but he will be there next season.
Charlotte: No All-Stars there but I do expect Bridges to make a nice leap this year. Not close to an All-Star or anything, of course, but a nice, young prospect.
Chicago: Markkanen will have better numbers than Julius Randle. The Bulls will also be better than the Knicks. If the Bulls are good enough to challenge for a playoff spot then I expect Markkanen to make it.
Cleveland: No All-Stars there. Kevin Love's All-Star days are over.
Detroit: Blake. He is still more than worthy of an All-Star spot.
Indiana: Domantas Sabonis will start at PF for us this year. As a starter for us last year (a limited sample size of 5 games, of course), he averaged 18.4 PPG, 11.6 RPG and 4.4 APG. The Pacers are going to be in the 3-6 range and we're going to be without Oladipo for the better part of the year so if Domas retains these numbers as a starter then he has a good chance of making it.
Miami: Jimmy Butler.
Milwaukee: Middleton will probably make it alongside Giannis.
Orlando: Aaron Gordon has an outside chance. He probably won't make it if Vuc makes it again because the Magic aren't going to be good enough to warrant two All-Stars but the outside chance is there.
Philadelphia: If they are good enough to warrant 3 All-Stars (which could definitely be the case) then one of Tobias Harris or Al Horford will make it. Ben Simmons is also a Forward and not a Guard, imo, but that's another topic.
Toronto: Siakam. He made a big leap last year and I expect him to continue to grow. Toronto will be in the 3-6 range as well so they will get an All-Star.
Washington: No All-Stars there. I like Rui as a prospect, though.
Other than Charlotte, Cleveland and Washington every other team has a player that at least has an outside chance to make the ASG. Obviously, Giannis is by far the best forward in the EC (and possibly the best forward in the entire league as well, it's between him and Kawhi) but that doesn't mean that there aren't other good forwards out there. The East may not have the superstar power that the West has but it does have a lot of good, young players that will keep improving and reach AS status.

He will probably average 22-23 ppg, about 10 rpg and 4-5 apg. Those are definitely all star numbers.

He is fringed all star player at best, we see what happens. People saying he just a scorer, need to watch him play.
He can board and is a pretty good passer. I love his work ethic, hope that rubs off on the younger Knick players.
