Love the deal! Would've been okay with giving him a 4 yr, 40 mil contract. I guess he's betting on himself for the short term. Smart!

The Bryant signing, a draft that including trading into the 2nd round, a trade for true prospects/young talent and a 2nd rounder. What a contrast to the Grunfeld era

Good contract! I like the 3 years, he will show in that time whether he can become a serviceable defender, if not we can move on.

This goes both ways. Shep make a great deal. Bryant must really want to stay a Wizard because he (probably) didnt entertain any other offer. Something to be said about someone who actually wants to be a Wizard.

Mojo Amok wrote:$8 million per is dirt cheap under the circumstances - I'm thrilled! If they front-loaded it, it'll be straight brilliant.

The only other deal I've seen thus far for mid-tier guys that looks like a comparable bargain is Aminu to Orlando for similar money.

The cap is going to be $118 million in 2021. We can't expect prices to be locked into where they were two years ago.

Good point about Aminu. His contract really stood out to me too. A bargain deal for a solid player.

Listening to this podcast. Really blown away by Thomas Bryant. Had no clue he was so well spoken! Wouldn't be surprised if he becomes a future all-star. I really recommend that you listen.

I only wish we could have inked him to a 4-year deal. 4/33 would have been even better. I'm totally comfortable betting on Bryant for the long term. He's a great kid, a real hard worker, and he's already a surprisingly effective player. He has all the tools to one day be a top 10 NBA center.

The contract is in the ballpark of what he wanted, but still off by 1.7 mil; I'm guessing they compromised on a 3-year deal, which allows him to prove that he can be the consistent player they want, without holding him hostage an extra year.

This is great news. Anyone know if the 3rd year is team/player option?

He gonna blow up. Capela with 3pt range.

Well, in fairness, we took Mike Pence off their hands. Taking back Mahinmi is the least they can do.

If Bryant blossomed into Capela defensively, that would be nice.

It's definitely not a player option. I remember Candace Parker tweeting that Thomas will be an unrestricted free agent in 3 years, earlier than his draft class.

I guess I'm the only person on this board who isn't that excited about Thomas Bryant. Centers in general aren't that valuable today, and Bryant has a long way to go defensively. I don't see the value in bigs who can't defend when you can alternatively play a smaller lineup with a more skilled offensive player who won't be outsized in 90% of matchups.

Could you re-name it to "Seismic Shift in the East: Thomas Bryant"

That sarcasm must remain even though kid has turned out to be a player. :P

i love how the sarcasm might end up being unironically true if he becomes a 20/10 center with 3 point range
