Seems really risky to have 7 of your top-10ish players in this tournament. Luckily Kanter is who he is so we don't have to deal with him playing for Turkey.

Yes it would appear the Celtics front office wants to sabatoge the team before the season starts. Not shocking with Danny and Brad. On the bright side we have some fun rookies to watch when those guys are broke down in hospitals and rehab. Carsen Edwards shooting us into the eastern conference finals would be a blast to watch. Be so great Brad was forced to play Tacko.

You seem to have a real Negative view of Brad Stevens and Danny Ainge?
Yes Danny much longer But Brad just sucked so bad last year.

Come on Tiny get those negative vibes outta here man. Kyrie's moodiness is gone. Finals pressure is gone.

Give me a fun cohesive good team that should be a solid playoff team.

I know the championship or buts mentality, but i'm not into it. Give me a team I enjoy October-May over the nonsense i watched last year.

Brad wasn't very good last year, but it also wasn't his type of team. I expect a nice bounce back season from him.

& I can never blame danny. Not his fault Rich Paul & Kyrie threw a wrench in his dynasty plan. Failed, but you can't knock the plan.

Each year now, injuries to NBA players multiply. The number of lost days to injuries is higher than ever before. Why? The main reasons 1) the long season 2) no real downtime 3) too many rookies now know and play only one sport so they can easily break down because of repeated stress to the same body parts (many have been playing b-ball nonstop since 6 years old--they are specialists more than rounded athletes)

Many earlier players would just let basketball go once the season ended and pick it up again in Oct. They understood that their bodies--and minds, were not machines and needed a thorough break the game. Michael Jordan was one such player.

This said, I'm totally opposed to this off season competition. Take an effing break, guys. You really do deserve. Turn your mind to anything but b-ball and come back ready to rock and roll.
Champions aren't made in the gyms. Champions are made from something they have deep inside them -- a desire, a dream, a vision.

But how good is Brad if he's only good with his type of players?

IINM, Kemba Walker is the only All-NBA teamer from the past two seasons that's gonna join the USA Basketball training camp. Is he arguably the best player on the team?

How many Kyrie Irvings are there in the NBA?

Williamson, Beal, Lillard, DeRozan and Harris make it nine players to withdraw from the team this month, along with Lakers forward Anthony Davis, Rockets guards James Harden and Eric Gordon and Trail Blazers guard CJ McCollum.

So how many Celtics makes it?

17 player roster left, 12 make it:

Harrison Barnes
Andre Drummond
Kemba Walker
Kevin Love
Kyle Lowry
Khris Middleton
Myles Turner
Kyle Kuzma
Brook Lopez
Paul Millsap
Jayson Tatum
P.J. Tucker
Donovan Mitchell
Marcus Smart*
Thaddeus Young*
Jaylen Brown*
Julius Randle*

Walker, Lowry, Smart
Mitchell, Brown
Middleton, Tatum, Barnes, Kuzma
Love, Milsap, Tucker, Randle, Young
Drummond, Turner, Lopez

Position wise looks like Smart will make it :) Brown should but based on Walker being a lock and also probably Tatum, no way they take 4 Celtics.

But there is to many of/c...way to many?

So how many Celtics?

Also I did not like Danny's plan. I never wanted Kryee. I like draft and development. I wanted the pick used on a player. I really didn't want AD and I think he is great basketball player. Maybe the best when he is on the court. I thought the price would be too high and he is always injured. I believe in trading but play the young guys and if team has weakness try to fix it with trade. I hated watching lot of Celtics games last year also. This should be lot more fun to watch. I think Smart will take over being the ego manic. Hope I'm wrong. I would trade him in heart beat for a real 4.

Don't you find it odd that others like him are backing out to prepare for a long season? Does the management of the Celtics place no value on this up coming season?

One has to wonder if Brad can coach a man 7' 7" 300 pounds?

What does this mean? Seriously.

You mean players that have complementary skill sets? (like having at least one player that's elite at driving to the rim for a bunch of horrible ISO players)

Or players that play for each other and the team?

Or how about having a huge advantage of talent over the opposing team like having an MVP player?

I'm going to guess he's pretty good, he's only had second rate all-stars to play with so far in IT or Irving or Horford. But he's shown he can beat the odds as long as they're not pieces of ***. If he was ever handed the advantage of having an MVP level player on his team one would expect it to go very well.

With all these players dropping out, you might finally see a Team USA with real hierarchy and team composition. I always felt it was silly to throw the top 12-15 players together and make it work. It’s cool in theory, but as we saw with our own Celtics, it’s hard to get players who are used to shooting 18 times a game to adjust down to 7-9 shots a game in limited minutes. Obviously Team USA has been successful in doing this in recent years, but 2002 and 2004 sucked for that reason.

I expect Team USA to perform better than expected because they may be forced to actually use role players and the such.

LeBron was good as a role player, he needed help from the refs but overall was good.

Lebron was coming off a rookie year in 2004 so that makes sense I suppose. That team had Melo, Wade, and Lebron all coming off rookie years, right? That is tough I feel, even for how good they are.

I just feel a Walker/Smart/Middleton/Millsap/Drummond lineup actually provides a lot of balance and hierarchy. Lowry, Mitchell, Brown, Tatum, and Turner off the bench would be awesome too. Clear roles that all players are used to with not a ton of adjustment, imo. Add PJ Tucker and Thad Young to that team, and you have a really, really good team internationally, imo.

Lopez would be pretty good internationally as well actually.

Return to Boston Celtics
