Kyrie was the most obvious problem, but he wasn't the main one.

Accomodating Hayward, i hate this narrative. The rest of your statement is fine.

Yes Stevens tried to force Hayward back into the starting role, but that was for exactly 16 games at the start of the season. Thats roughly one fifth of the season, afterwards he was relegated to the bench. If the other players (and some voiced this publicly) felt Hayward hasn't earned the starting spot, they were correct. But they should have gotten their own mindset in order once Stevens pulled the plug on Hayward starting. What happend the rest of the season, the other 70 games? Yes Stevens made the mistake by giving Hayward to much time early on, but he corrected it and the chemestry was still dogs**t for the rest of the season.

The one to blame for most Bostons failure last season is Ainge. He built the roster and knew that 4 of the top 8 rotation players were in contract years. Why would go into the season with so much money on the line. And why didnt't he traded someone at the deadline when the chemestry was obivously (for everyone) horrible. All four are gone now.

20 and an all-star seem completely feasible. Celtics in the finals not so much.

I fully believe he'll be at or around 21-23 ppg and will make the All-Star team....but they not going to the Finals.

Hayward was getting too many minutes even after he was put in the secodn unit. I don't think Stevens even wanted to do it, it was Hayward himself who suggested it, and probably Danny Ainge. Hayward was still coming into the game before Brown, and that was not right.

I remember the game against San Antonio, when Tatum was injured, and Hayward was put back in the starting lineup, even ehough he was coming back from another injury he susitained after colission with John Collins, and Brown had a great game prior to that, and great run of form. Stevens was hell-bent on sacrificing him for his guy Hayward. When you have culture like that, everybody is going to look only after themselves.

I think he just rattled off his goals or the things he's hoping for, but it came out like a prediction. Lol. Regardless, give me the kid who thinks impossible is possible.

Didn’t he say he was going to make the all star last season?

Sorry but this guy isn’t that special. He really slumped in the latter half and in the playoffs. Celtics should have moved him when his value peaked after 17-18.

Exactly. Because the Nets are going to the Finals.

I love how in a topic about Jason Tatum making delusional statements, your focus is on the Nets.

And yes of course the Celtics won't win the title this season, nobody with a brain would expect that. But a player has to say he wants to win it all otherwise people question his motor.

I hate y'all for having JB and Kemba, 2 of the 3 players in the league I gotta root for... I need Tatum to average 10 so I can see JB and Kemba average 30 each while still seeing Boston go 40-42.

Yall Boston fans sound like bitter ex boy/girlfriends still hung up over their ex. It's really funny, the topic is Jason Tatum and all I'm seeing is Nets, Nets, Nets, Nets. Sad

Yes. That’s when his trade value peaked. There’s nothing remotely strange or controversial about that statement.

Tatum at 21 taking a step forward for year 3 is not going to shock many people.

He should worry about making the playoffs first before claiming they are going to the finals and trying to be a 90 in NBA 2k

Make the playoffs? It’s really interesting how Boston is so underrated now here.

Incremental improvement doesn’t necessarily result in peaking trade value. That’s all. Most people here should know that.

The kid is just saying his goals for the year. I don’t think there is anything wrong with that. It’s not like he’s saying something delusional like the earth is flat!

Well what is he supposed to say? I mean......"I'm gonna average 13 points per game and we're going to get bounced in the first round as an 8th seed." I for one (coming from a Sixers fan) think that Tatum is going to be a star player in this league. He's shown way too much to not get to an all star status, and he may even be better than that if he can stay healthy and keep improving. So averaging 20+ a game and being one of the main catalysts on a contending team isn't really all that far out of reach. Especially on that team with the talent they still have and the coaching they get from Stevens. The Celtics are just never a team i'm willing to bet against, they find ways to win, they find ways to stay relevant. Playing in the eastern conference is no cakewalk, but there are 3-4 teams that could make the finals next summer in Milwaukee, Philadelphia (i'm hoping), possibly Indy, and I honestly think Boston is up there over the likes of Brooklyn, Miami, and of course Detroit. So with that being said....Giannis and Milwaukee can be stopped in the postseason, Joel Embiid has had his injury issues...It's not that far fetched of him (Tatum) to make such proclamations.
