And yes of course the Celtics won't win the title this season, nobody with a brain would expect that. But a player has to say he wants to win it all otherwise people question his motor.
Fair points, but players always get in trouble when they predict actual numbers. He would have been better off being a bit more vague about how he thinks the year will play out personally and for his team. You know the whole "I expect big things from myself and our team next year" sorta stuff. It's more boring of an answer, but also opens you up to less criticism by fans (not that that matters in any way shape or form) than predicting specific numbers does.
He could be right about the Celtics making the finals, it wouldn't shock me to see them come out of the east - especially if Philly has the injury bug. But if Philly is healthy enough, I think they'd probably sweep the Celtics. As much as I love Kanter and his defense isn't quite as bad as his reputation would make you think, he's going to be a problem for the C's as their starting 5 man. His most effective role is really coming off the bench, not being a teams starter. You can get away with him being your starting C against some teams, but he will absolutely cost you games against teams that can exploit him.
