We have plenty of vets. Last roster spot to take a shot on a 21 year old? Absolutely.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

If Kohl was still running things, he wouldn't be coming here. We'd be meeting with Carmelo and Caron Butler. (and still wouldn't land them).

That said, this is a great use of a minimum contract. Give the kid his first taste of a stable, first class organization. Put him through Bucks university and see what happens. If he’s going to improve anywhere it’ll be after going up against Giannis every day. Would love to see him soak up a ton of minutes with the Herd as well.

I love the “Bucks University” term. That gets my “juices” flowing.
I admit to being a terrible judge of talent and having minimal knowledge of the game of basketball.

This will most likely just be one of those cases of "What a savvy move to bring in a former top 5 pick that busted with his first team to see if we can utilize him the right way" only to find that the reason he busted with his first team is because he's simply bad.

But! Big man that can shoot and do some other fun stuff = an interesting reclamation project nonetheless.

I like a lot of what I've seen defensively from Bender, seems to have a good IQ and can hang on the perimeter. If Bucks can get him to be more physical like how DJ progressed and the shot comes around you have a nice piece. Probably not super likely but he's a great fit if things pan out.

The thing with Bender is that everything that made him so alluring as a prospect to begin with remains. From a skill, body, bball IQ standpoint, there are no real fundamental flaws. If confidence is the largest issue, while certainly a problem three years in, I think it's one of the better problems to have if you're going in on a reclamation project. He's still very much a do it all blank slate and he'll only be 22.

We have a guy in Giannis who we all know is an absolute HORSE when it comes to putting the work in. If a little of that rubs off on Bender? Who knows?

Small sample size, but he averaged 12 points, 9 boards, 3 assists and 2 blocks per over the last five games of last season. Maybe he figured something out?

Good DX content (http://www.draftexpress.com/profile/Dragan-Bender-62877/), especially the Zinger comps. While I don't expect him to be anywhere near Kristaps, he comped fairly well when they were both 18.

He can't be any worse than Thon.

Waiting for Velazquez to confirm that this is indeed the cost.
Waiting for Gery to rip on this deal because they didn't try to acquire Jabari instead.

Team oriented 7 footer who moves his feet well, passes well, will get physical boxing out and setting screens. Short arms, too passive/indecisive with the ball and on the glass, hasn't shot well. If Bud can get him playing instead of thinking, still think there could be something there. Has a natural feel.

Not sure about the natural feel on offense. But the way he moves his feet on defense is something you can't even find in every draft at that size. Offense is a major work in progress but he's got all the skills but has to put him together. I rated Diallo a bit higher but he would be my second pickup.

Funny thing is - when people were insisting Bender was a GREAT prospect, they also insisted he was so much better than Skita.

I have very little hope for him, but I'd rather take a chance on him than another aging veteran. cough*&*Pau*&*cough

Btw, his brother Ivan was absolutely terrible for the University of Maryland.
