Muscle memory takes a long time. It looks better but I’ll be shocked if he’s shooting jumpers this year. It looks like a good platform for growth 2-3 years down the line so that’s very encouraging.

The reason most people say "muscle memory" takes a long time is because a lot of learning is trial and error. If you have the right coaches/trainers (that appeal to you and you listen to) and you practice the right way and do things over and over again, you increase your rate of learning. And it takes a lot less time to integrate something new (like a shot) into your arsenal.
But some of the impediments to his growth will be.
Being young/rich and famous then having to listen to someone else tell you what to do can be a humbling experience. Especially when they have not achieved anything close to what you have.
When things go wrong...and they will. It's hard not to revert back to the old way of doing things (its a safe space and you had success there).
People have a natural tendency to want to do things quickly once we get the hang of it. But the speed of going slow and constant reps is where the growth will occur. Young people can be very impulsive and stop doing a routine once they achieve a small level of success.
But I want him to prove me wrong.
And It's brain memory..the muscles just come along for the ride.
You want it to be one way....but it's the other way. (Marlo)

It just looks different to me. He is playing differently as well. Better arc on the shot, confidence is obvious. I hope it isn't because there is no one else around. I don't doubt anything after watching Fults. lol

Simmons already had a jumpshot In his rookie season as seen below, he just messed it up by twisting the ball with his palm and using bad mechanics. So all he needs to do is go back to what he was doing in this video and he will be fine to go.

I don;t know if his mechanics looks better, but gee the flight of the ball looks nice.
Nice touch on the ball, actually looks like it's going in once it leaves the hand

His shots were ugly AF. Looks a lot better in the recent videos.

Who has a better shooting form between Ben and Giannis?

Great to see Ben shooting the ball, expectations are low for next season but I would love to see him taking open jumpers.

Not that it really matters, but he does miss a 3 in the 2nd video.

Re: The Ben Simmons Megathread - Part III
I want to believe; having any kind of mid range jumper to get him out of the dunkers spot so either his defender can’t easily double the post or Ben can punish him for leaving him open - would completely open up the offense.
However, those are cut up highlights; I’m sure the 10 shots he hammered off the backboard or missed the rim completely got left out. Good if he’s working hard on it, but color me skeptical until I see it in a game.

You can judge if he is making them a lot if defenders are challenging those shots in those cut up highlights. Looks like he has respectable mid range and still has questionable 3pt shooting

30% from 3 and consistency from 18' is a huge improvement. That alone opens up the floor considerably from last year.

Giannis by a lot. Giannis has normal flaws that you see everyday. The main ones are catapulting the ball, poor rhythm, and leaning back in the shot. Ben might be shooting with the wrong hand, he over rotates his hips to the point of a full spin. Ben's **** is weird.
This **** team has turned us all into shot doctors.
They say an analytics man doesn't have a heart, but I ran the numbers and nothing can be further from the truth - Sam Hinkie probably

Hmmm didn't see any of those jumpers last year. Not even close to what he was shooting in year 1.
Distinct lack of Joel Embiid on the court in any of those videos as well. Offense looked completely different.

Full Highlights of Open Runs.
Still has some jumpers where the elbow flares out and he spins the ball but you can see improvement. He looks hungry.

yeah. and even if he doesn't get to this level 100% this year, he has to at least try and keep the defense honest. again that opens things up.
