I give Dolan the slight edge over Sarver, but that's basically because he hasn't been able to turn being in a large media market to his advantage at all.

Is Jordan a bad owner or it's just a small market thing ?

He had an awful GM for a long time, so yeah, that's pretty bad. He's a good owner for bringing the Hornets back, but for on court product the Hornets are bad because of poor decision making and vision, not because Jordan is a cheap owner or small market.

Same story with the Suns, but one would think a player considered best of all time will hire a better GM than a banker in Sarver.

Probably a bit of being a smaller market though. I'm sure Sarver will not look that bad(cheap) if players were killing to play for the team as they do for LA teams.

So it's definitely Dolan the worst owner from that point of view.

I thought Reinsdorf would have more votes, but I guess people don't believe that a lack of accountability for a front office has little to do with being a bad owner. At least Sarver allows things to be shaken up to try and get the right pieces in place. Jordan as well. Dolan is a clown but I do think the Knicks will get themselves right sooner rather than later. The Bulls have had the same front office in place since 2010, and Paxson has been there since 2003, with little to show for it outside of a great Derrick Rose season, and a bunch of mediocrity. Paxson has been allowed to hire and fire six different head coaches since he's been there, in what is I'm sure a record for most coaches under one GM. Reinsdorf allows this to happen because he's "loyal" supposedly, or that he's one of the cheapest owners in sports and is paying "2 for 1" in both Paxson and Forman. Ridiculous.

For vote number two coming later, a few people want Gores added to the list, so I'll add him.,

OKC and Magic also brought up.

If you want another added to the list let me know. Think I can add up to 2 teams after #1 gets its spot. So Detroit will be in the next poll for sure.

Stopped reading there. That alone gets him the title as the worst. He’s kept this joker as top decision maker throughout this entire mess, all for being an incompetent “yes man.”

The one thing that stands out to me about Dolan is that he's seemed to have the uncanny ability to interfere when he shouldn't (Kyle Lowry trade for example) and not step in when he should (allowing the Curry and Noah contracts among numerous examples). Not to mention his penchant for hiring terrible management.

I voted for him because I feel like the Knicks should have a much easier time of at least being consistently mediocre (5-8 seed at least) due to their market, location and legacy, than a team like the Suns. And yet they're going on 2 straight decades of pure futility with no signs of things changing any time soon.

It's Knicks or Suns.

I voted Suns because at least the Knicks owner pretends to care... kind of.

How are the Knicks a worse run franchise than the Kings or the Hornets?

Sacramento hasn't sniffed the playoffs in 13 years and the Hornets haven't won a playoff series in 17 years.

Let's not even get into teams like the Pistons, Suns, Pelicans, Magic and Wolves who have all been just as trash or worse than the Knicks.

Its clearly Dolan however Sather is a close second.

A low key bad owner is Mark Cuban.

There are clearly worse owners than him, but I want Reinsdorf to sell. We need a change in Chicago

None of those teams have resources that Knicks have .

The Knicks have everything
Money
Fans
Arena
Biggest market

And they still suck just the same. You have to be pretty bad owner to be able to win with all that.

You know, some people learn from their mistakes. Steve Mills did that, hired Scott Perry and completely changed the culture of this organization after being complicit in its dysfunction for years.

You're right, Mills isn't blameless. But people can change for the better. His actions since Perry's hiring speak for themselves. I find it incredibly intolerant and self-serving to judge people forever based on their past wrongdoings and to dismiss their ability to become better people or professionals, especially when they have turned a corner.

It's so easily the NY Knicks. NY is easily a top 5 destination for an NBA star, I'd think the top 5 are LA, NY, Miami, San Francisco, and Chicago. A young player I'd say wants to go to LA, Miami, or NY, because of all the nightlife options. The Knicks as one of the original franchises, with some history between being one of the orginal franchises, the titles in the 70's, MSG, Ewing, etc.. PLUS it's location, you'd it'd be EASY to have a successful team, but they have been underwhelming for about 20 years now. In the last 19 years they have only made the playoffs 5 times, and made it out of the first round once, in 2013 where they lost in the 2nd round to the Pacers.

It took a while for the Nets to bounce back, but if Durant comes back strong, they should be one of the better teams in the East in 2020-21. The Nets are proof that NY is a desirable destination, but no one wants to play for the Knicks anymore. Atleast not with their current front office.

Those teams are in large part bad because they aren't really desirable destinations for star players. The Knicks are the highest valued franchise, but their front office is incompetent. How the hell can you mention the Pelicans. The Pelicans have just turned it all around and could be looking at the playoffs very soon, maybe even this year. The Knicks have made the playoffs 5 times in the last 19 years, that's pathetic.

Other than Dolan, the one constant in this horrid Knicks era has been Mills. This guy would not have survived in any other franchise given his track record. He’s a yes man to a terrible personality disordered owner, and his fingerprints are all over each bad move the Knicks make.

I think the younger Buss kids got most of Dad's smarts, but Jeanie wants to win titles in the worst way and is willing to pay and to get into huge trades and FA to get it done. Sometimes that fails spectacularly, but there's no questioning her intent. They're always in the hunt. It's been hard getting back to this peak and they'd better win now because they're going back to Yute Crew #2 when the window slams again. They can always recoup a pick here and there, but they're gonna have to draft well low this time. That doesn't bother me considering we got #2s who were projects as big as guys drafted in the 2nd round.

Now if you were to ask me what motivates Dolan, I couldn't tell ya and most Knicks fans couldn't either.
