I never saw it. But with the bases loaded and one out, Gabriel Moreno picked off a guy on third. Then Pardinho got out of the jam without allowing a run.

It seems like the team to watch next year will be Dunedin. Groshans, Moreno, Pardinho, Manoah, Woods-Richardson, Conine, and possibly Will Robertson and Tanner Morris, may all be on Dunedin.

I have brought this up in a couple different threads now but who is the closest thing to a stud “can’t miss” outfielder in the Jays minor leagues? Thanks

It was Anthony Alford. Heck, it might still be him but he just seems to be so close yet so far basically all the time, injuries or not. Dassan Brown is anything but "can't miss" but he's probably the best outfield prospect in the system right now.

Jays dont have one at all, no one close.

Our "best" OF prospects are Conine, Brown and Cal Stevenson. Brown has high upside but a bigger risk as he is 17. Conine has unreal power but a lot of miss in his swing. Stevenson is 22 and in A+ ball, has a walk for every strikeout... He will be AA next season, good defense and his bat is proving to be an asset but he has limited upside meaning he isnt a high ceiling guy.

Not everyone has to be high ceiling, they just have to be good. We have high ceilings on or likely to reach the majors around the infield and at catcher. Gurriel is turning into a high ceiling left fielder. Just give me someone who can play a solid outfield, and hit as many homers as Grichuk but with a .260 average and OBP over .325. That would set the table for a pretty potent lineup.

That's where I still think Biggio might wind up in right. He should be able to do what you're describing with the bat and play functional defense out there. A lot of them are still a ways away, but the Jays do have a lot of infield prospects still out there even after Bo's call up. It doesn't have to be Biggio, either, but filling right field isn't necessarily as difficult as it seems. It's really just a CF that the team is missing but those guys can come out of nowhere like Pillar did, and I'm sure the lack of a clear CF is the reason for Grichuk's placeholder contract.

It's odd that Shatkins doesn't appear to address the outfield issue via trades, only more starting pitching.

Starting pitchers are a critical asset and a great trade piece. Given their fragility, you need a large supply of them - some would say oversupply - to assemble a good staff, and if you have more than you can fit without losing quality arms in a Rule 5 draft, you can trade them for outfielders. At the same time, you can convert many infielders into corner outfielders, as we have done, with good success, with Gurriel Jr. So if we have too many infielders coming up, or catchers for that matter, we can either convert them into outfielders if they have the requisite talent or trade them for an outfielder or two.
