***Our Annual - Predict The Heat 2019-2020 Regular Season***

Post#1 » by RexBoyWonder » Sun Jul 28, 2019 11:59 am

It's that time of the year again, time to get our hopes up before they are crushed by Iggie's jinxing.
looking at las't years thread, it looks like almost everyone were too optimistic.

What season do you expect us to have? Will jimmy really make a change? Will Bam make the jump? Will Doc add new butt hols?

So without further ado, let's get after it - All answers should address the Regular Season :

2) Will we make the playoffs this year? If yes - what seed will we be?

3) Who will be our top 4 leading scorers, and what will their PPG be?

4) Who will be our best overall new addition (new at Miami)?

5) Who will be our best overall young player (not including Dion)?

6) Which player will make the biggest improvement from last year?

7) Who will be the biggest disappointment?

8) What trades will we end up doing during the year (or even before the season starts)?

9) What will be the biggest surprise of the season? (positive or negative or both)

10) What will our board posters write about Spo once this season is over?

11) Predict a nice/interesting statistical nugget you can see happening with the team or a player.

12) Predict the weirdest moment of the season.

13) Predict a RealGM Heat-board development you expect to see with a long time poster/s.

14) What will you consider a success/failure this year?

15) What will be the biggest factor to impact our success or failure this year?

16) Bonus playoff question - How far will we get in the playoffs and how will our season end?

I am not going to complain, just going to answer the questions when they are presented to me. Sheesh guys

RexBoyWonder wrote:
1) How many wins will the Heat have in the 2019-2020 season? 47

2) Will we make the playoffs this year? If yes - what seed will we be? Yes, 4

3) Who will be our top 4 leading scorers, and what will their PPG be? If we acquire other players, I reserve right to edit this Butler (22.5), Winslow (16), Bam (14), Waiters (13)

4) Who will be our best overall new addition (new at Miami)? Jimmy, duh

5) Who will be our best overall young player (not including Dion)? Bam (Dion is young?)

6) Which player will make the biggest improvement from last year? I'm gonna go off the board, Meyers Leonard

7) Who will be the biggest disappointment? KZ Okpala, because I don't think he'll get a ton of PT early. Runner up JJ, I think he is done

8) What trades will we end up doing during the year (or even before the season starts)? BEAL PLEASE

9) What will be the biggest surprise of the season? (positive or negative or both) Goran/Waiters play well

10) What will our board posters write about Spo once this season is over? Love this guy

11) Predict a nice/interesting statistical nugget you can see happening with the team or a player. Tyler Herro will be one of the best rookies from an analytical standpoint

12) Predict the weirdest moment of the season. Heat back to back: we beat a finals contender and lose to a bottom 5 team

13) Predict a RealGM Heat-board development you expect to see with a long time poster/s. Our record of GT's made by Iggie will be worse than our record of GT's made by all others

14) What will you consider a success/failure this year? Natural growth of Bam, Herro, Winslow, KZ. Win 1 playoff series would be huge success. Missing playoffs is disaster

15) What will be the biggest factor to impact our success or failure this year? Our bench. Waiters/Herro/DJJ/JJ/Meyers could be one of the best benches in the league but could also be a disaster

16) Bonus playoff question - How far will we get in the playoffs and how will our season end? We win 4-5 matchup, lose to #1 seed in 6 games

You skipped making this thread last year Rex and look what happened. You are as much to blame for last season as Iggie come to think about it. Good days are ahead, will have the full predictions in October.

1) How many wins will the Heat have in the 2019-2020 season?
(43)

2) Will we make the playoffs this year? If yes - what seed will we be?
(5th seed)

3) Who will be our top 4 leading scorers, and what will their PPG be?
Butler (20), Dragic (15), Winslow (14), Waiters (13)
{Olynyk (11), Bam (11), JJ (9), Herro (9), Jones (8), Leonard (6), Robinson (5), Okpala (4), Nunn (4)}

4) Who will be our best overall new addition (new at Miami)?
Jimmy Butler

5) Who will be our best overall young player (not including Dion)?
Dion is 28 this season, so you may want to tweak the question. Best overall young player will be Tyler Herro. (Note: I'm not considering Winslow, who is now a veteran, in this question.)

6) Which player will make the biggest improvement from last year?
Bam Adebayo with improved minutes will go from 8.9/7.5/2.3 (last season) to (12/10/3).

7) Who will be the biggest disappointment?
James Johnson.

8) What trades will we end up doing during the year (or even before the season starts)?
Dragic's expiring deal should be moved at the trade deadline for a cheaper deal to get out of the tax. Patty Mills is a good target.
Dragic for Mills will require San Antonio to dump a contract elsewhere.

9) What will be the biggest surprise of the season? (positive or negative or both)
Jeremiah Martin will be promoted from Sioux Falls and impress. If you saw him play at Memphis, maybe this won't be a surprise.
Dion Waiters and James Johnson will return to the form that won them their deals.

Note:
Waiters: 15.8/3.3/4.3 in 30 minutes per game with nearly 40% 3 point shooting, including some game winners.
James: 12.8/4.9/3.6 in 27 minutes per game with 34% from the 3 and solid defense.

10) What will our board posters write about Spo once this season is over?
"Spo is getting better at player development."

11) Predict a nice/interesting statistical nugget you can see happening with the team or a player.
Duncan Robinson hits 6 three-pointers in a row.

12) Predict the weirdest moment of the season.
Hassan Whiteside's return to Miami is highlighted by a devastating dunk by Derrick Jones, Jr, leading to Hassan's second technical. That's not weird. The weird is Spo's face is revealed in a terrible lapse by the demon on national tv:

Image

That's not weird either. The weird is that it was on national tv.

13) Predict a RealGM Heat-board development you expect to see with a long time poster/s.
Spoiler:
Image

iggie finally beats the Kings.

14) What will you consider a success/failure this year?
Success: 2nd round victory (one game not the series)
Failure: Missing the playoffs.

15) What will be the biggest factor to impact our success or failure this year?
Spo.

16) Bonus playoff question - How far will we get in the playoffs and how will our season end?
Make second round after beating the 4th seed, 4-2, as road warriors.
Bounced in the second round (4-3) by the best team in the East, the Bucks.

A little early don't you think? We're probably not even done making trades yet. But what the hell ...

RexBoyWonder wrote:1) How many wins will the Heat have in the 2019-2020 season? As of right now I'll say 45 games.

2) Will we make the playoffs this year? If yes - what seed will we be? Yes ... 6th seed

3) Who will be our top 4 leading scorers, and what will their PPG be? Butler 24 ppg, Dragic 14 ppg, Bam 14 ppg, Winslow 14 ppg :dontknow:

4) Who will be our best overall new addition (new at Miami)? Jimmy Butler of course.

5) Who will be our best overall young player (not including Dion)? Bam

6) Which player will make the biggest improvement from last year? Bam

7) Who will be the biggest disappointment? I'm already disappointed that Waiters is still here so ...

8) What trades will we end up doing during the year (or even before the season starts)? I wouldn't even try to guess.

9) What will be the biggest surprise of the season? Spo will look smarter now that he has a guy that can make a basket when he needs it.

10) What will our board posters write about Spo once this season is over? S.O.S ... love/hate ... no real change

11) Predict a nice/interesting statistical nugget you can see happening with the team or a player. Bam will make at least 20 three pointers on the year.

12) Predict the weirdest moment of the season. Jimmy Butler missing a last second shot, and Waiters yelling at him like he's Mario Chalmers.

13) Predict a RealGM Heat-board development you expect to see with a long time poster/s. Same as every other year. I'm going to lose my damn mind.

14) What will you consider a success/failure this year? This season is already a failure. We've trashed our near and mid term future to go all in with Jimmy Buckets, and he isn't good enough to lead us to a title. But we'll make the playoffs, as we should, and maybe even pull off an upset in round 1.

15) What will be the biggest factor to impact our success or failure this year? Pat. He's already impacted it by setting our course, and he will determine if we add another piece or two to maybe get us to the ECF.

16) Bonus playoff question - How far will we get in the playoffs and how will our season end? I'm going to assume that we make another trade, and say 2nd round game 7.

Last season’s main storyline was about Wade, and this season it’s going to be about his true successor: Tyler Herro.

1) How many wins will the Heat have in the 2019-2020 season?
43

2) Will we make the playoffs this year? If yes - what seed will we be?
yes, 7th

3) Who will be our top 4 leading scorers, and what will their PPG be?
Butler 21.5, Dion 13.8ppg, Goran 14.2ppg, Winslow 12.7ppg

4) Who will be our best overall new addition (new at Miami)?
Butler

5) Who will be our best overall young player (not including Dion)?
Bam

6) Which player will make the biggest improvement from last year?
Bam

7) Who will be the biggest disappointment?
Winslow

8) What trades will we end up doing during the year (or even before the season starts)?
Dumping Dragic or nothing at all.

9) What will be the biggest surprise of the season? (positive or negative or both)
We somehow trade more future draft picks. If not possible yet, somehow we'll find a way.

10) What will our board posters write about Spo once this season is over?
Spo must go.

11) Predict a nice/interesting statistical nugget you can see happening with the team or a player.
Interior defense gonna suck yet we'll still give up too many open 3's.

12) Predict the weirdest moment of the season.
End of game situation, Butler carried the team on his back all night, he's open for the shot, but Dion never passes, chucks it and wins it himself!

13) Predict a RealGM Heat-board development you expect to see with a long time poster/s.
Don't know, but I expect our posters to continue being entertaining even if the team sucks.

14) What will you consider a success/failure this year?
Playoffs or trading for another piece means success.

15) What will be the biggest factor to impact our success or failure this year?
Someone(s) other than Butler stepping up and being consistent.

16) Bonus playoff question - How far will we get in the playoffs and how will our season end?
First round fodder unless we get another piece. Maybe win 2 games.

Perhaps a bit early, but...

1) How many wins will the Heat have in the 2019-2020 season?

42-40

2) Will we make the playoffs this year? If yes - what seed will we be?

Borderline... 7th or 8th

3) Who will be our top 4 leading scorers, and what will their PPG be?

Butler 22-23ppg
Winslow 13-14
Bam 13-14
Johnson 12-13

4) Who will be our best overall new addition (new at Miami)?

Butler

5) Who will be our best overall young player (not including Dion)?

Winslow

6) Which player will make the biggest improvement from last year?

I don’t expect anyone to stand out here

7) Who will be the biggest disappointment?

Bam or Herro

8) What trades will we end up doing during the year (or even before the season starts)?

Either Beal or Griffin; I think the ship has sailed on Paul... (edit) if it hasn’t, I have a feeling that Miami will somehow end up with Carmelo Anthony and Dwight Howard

9) What will be the biggest surprise of the season? (positive or negative or both)

For many heat fans, that Miami is still a borderline playoff team in a very weak and diluted Eastern Conference

If my crazy idea of Miami trading for Paul and signing Howard and Anthony, then the biggest surprise will be Miami rolling out this starting 5:

G: Paul
G: Butler
F: Winslow
F: Anthony
C: Howard

10) What will our board posters write about Spo once this season is over?

Prob people will want him fired

11) Predict a nice/interesting statistical nugget you can see happening with the team or a player.

Perhaps some sort of consecutive game streak of 20+ points by Butler

12) Predict the weirdest moment of the season.

Right after the trade deadline if Miami is “underachieving” and no new hope is added

13) Predict a RealGM Heat-board development you expect to see with a long time poster/s.

No idea

14) What will you consider a success/failure this year?

Success: signs of improvement from the younger guys, remaining competitive for a playoff spot, and getting something of value for Dragic

Failure: younger guys stall, Dragic doesn’t fetch is anything, and Butler continues to be a diva

15) What will be the biggest factor to impact our success or failure this year?

Getting value for Dragic and Bam improving

16) Bonus playoff question - How far will we get in the playoffs and how will our season end?

If they make it, out in the first round

Yes, 3rd seed

3) Who will be our top 4 leading scorers, and what will their PPG be?

Jimmy Butler 18.7 ppg
Justise Winslow 15.2 ppg
Bam Adebayo 14.8 ppg
Tyler Herro 12.3 ppg

4) Who will be our best overall new addition (new at Miami)?

Jimmy Butler

5) Who will be our best overall young player (not including Dion)?

Bam Adebayo

6) Which player will make the biggest improvement from last year?

Bam Adebayo

7) Who will be the biggest disappointment?

James Johnson hardly plays

8) What trades will we end up doing during the year (or even before the season starts)?

Move Dion in some lateral move just to get rid of his whining when he loses mins to Tyler Herro.

9) What will be the biggest surprise of the season? (positive or negative or both)

Herro becomes a rotation player. Dion is healthy and plays well.

10) What will our board posters write about Spo once this season is over?

Same thing they write every year, Spobot, player not getting minutes needs minutes etc

11) Predict a nice/interesting statistical nugget you can see happening with the team or a player.

Justise is only player to average his ppg, rpg, apg and 3pt%.

12) Predict the weirdest moment of the season.

Dion tirade in media over benching.

13) Predict a RealGM Heat-board development you expect to see with a long time poster/s.

Meh

14) What will you consider a success/failure this year?

Either making a leap with a proper orca or not jeopardizing the chance to do so in the off season is a success. Failure is doing the opposite

15) What will be the biggest factor to impact our success or failure this year?

Youth actually being committed to and living up to promise

16) Bonus playoff question - How far will we get in the playoffs and how will our season end?

2nd round. 4-2 loss
